Angry Help with Android radio oddity/ Steering wheel controls

Got an odd thing going on with my SWC.

I originally installed a pioneer AVH-4200NEX in my 06 coupe base non nav with the aid of @Wrathernaut's post. Everything worked great, and upgraded to separate amps and rca/speaker wire runs. After some years, i decided to give an android unit a try, the
PLZ PLZ
. Install went without issues until I came to the steering wheel controls. The PLZ uses a two wire system and is fortunately recommended to use my existing ASWC-1. I have tried every combo of key wires adn ground connected/not connected i can think of and it never worked. It would recognize a button press of seek down or mode, but that's it.

Found a post in another forum stating their particular android they just directly connected the car's key A and B to the android unit. Pulled out the ASWC-1, connected the key wires straight to the infiniti A/B (green and red from m39) and connected the grounds (m39 yellow, radio SWC ground) to a chassis ground and I've got 67% functionality. Vol up/down and seek up/down work. Phone and mode buttons are recognized by the radio, but they trigger vol up/down.

I remember a post that explains the resistance triggers but can't seem to find it. Since it's the middle (phone/mode) buttons that are wacky, I figure it's got to be something to do with that. I thought the ASWC-1 takes care of that, but was unable to get it work. Is there a workaround I'm unaware of? Anyone have experience with these android units and could shed some light?

If vol up and vol down both work, you're wired right, as they're on the different signal wires from the steering wheel controls.

Any further configuration will need to be done at the headunit to decipher what resistance on which wire gets mapped to what function.
