Hi, I'm a noobie and starting my build and upgrades.

Is there a difference between the 4080 box and the stealthbox sold by Wicked CAS? I have an 06 Coupe.

Not sure if this question has been answered. Sorry if it has.

Thanks.

It depends on what you want out of your system. The 4080 utilizes the correct air volume on the inside of the sub itself to provide the best quality of sound. The Stealthbox maxes out the trunk spaces, but is MOST PRACTICAL.

They're both sealed enclosures of similar volume of about the same weight of fiberglass, so they'll give pretty similar acoustic properties, but there's one huge difference - you can buy the Wicked CAS ones new instead of lurking in the a/v classifieds hoping a used one comes up for sale.

But if trunk space isn't needed, you might be able to get a custom ported enclosure made that will outperform the sealed enclosure in pretty much every way, so you might want to check reputable local shops before dropping $350+ on one.

Thanks for the reply Wrathernaut & Urbanengineer. The thing is I already ordered the sealed enclosure from Wicked CAS and its in my possession already. I do need the trunk space. Perhaps later on I can always upgrade.

Next question, do you or anyone on here help me out with how to run the power wire for the amp from the battery thru the firewall? I looked all over but couldn't find an opening.

By the way, I stripped the entire car to remove stock speakers and apply sound deadening materials. I know how to take off everything in the rear, including both panels, seats, the entire cover that has the Bose grill embedded in.

Not sure how important is this info and it might be that others have figure this out already, but I'm trying to contribute and give back as this forum has given me, especially Wrathernaut's thread on Double Din Install.

Just cut a new hole through the same place the factory wiring goes through:

OP's probably long gone by now, but two options in the sedan I used - back of the seats, and under the rear deck on a simple shelf.

If I were to do one now, I'd do something similar to the shelf, but put it on some drawer sliders so that adjustments can be made without having to un-bolt the shelf.

I am thinking of mounting the sub amp Upside-down and leaving it purely visible. I might have a local machine shop make me a corner cage to protect it from luggage.

Building that shelf would take a little more time then I am wiling to invest. Nice to see the cargo nets still fit .

How are you coming with your install, Urbanengineer? If you are truly in Ohio, cold weather is approaching fast. I'm in burb of Chicago and this whole week is in the 50's. I'm almost finished as I have one more door molex to go. Wrathernaut was absolutely right, it is the most painful part of the install.

I haven't even started the subwoofer install yet haha. It is being shipped to me right now. I am truly in Ohio... haha. Cincinnati Area.

The sub install is as simple as running a large gauge wire from the Positive side of the battery through the cabin and out the trunk to the sub. Not sure with what size I would like to go with yet though!

Also,I am not familiar with the door molex, what is that?

With the door molex, I hope you're being sarcastic instead of serious.

It took me 2 hours to mount the JL sub to the stealth box. Had to get it centered and everything. As for wire for the sub, I went with 8-guage, but it's a little too much copper and wouldn't fit. So I had to trim down some.

Are you amplifying the speakers? I see no reason to run new wire.

Yup. I'm completely replacing the entire stock system and speakers. Sound deadened the entire car except the roof and the two front seats. Extremely time consuming and lots of patience.
