I'm planning out the install of my new system, which I'm doing in phases. The first phase will involve most of the wiring, and I want to get some opinions on where to route 0awg power wire. It looks like the factory wires run on the left side of the chassis (correct me if I'm wrong), so I'll want to go down the right side, which is closer to the battery anyways. In particular, where can I get a 0awg wire through the firewall? If it's not possible w/o drilling, where should I drill? I kinda cringe at the thought of drilling a hole through a metal piece of my new car... so if at all possible, I'd like to find a way to thread it through an already-existing hole... Running it under the interior trim is going to be something else, too...

I agree.. I tried running 4 gauge and gave up because the hole wasn't big enough to stick both the 4 gauge and my old 8 gauge through. I've got fuses galore and I don't crank it, so 8 gauge for both my amps works well.
There are several threads discussing running 0 guage. I have done it myself. You need to pull off the cover off the battery(the whole cover). There is a huge grommet behind there that will accomodate probably 2 0AWG wires. Slit a hole in it and seal it VERY well with silicone, and from there it's cake running it all the way back under the carpet. The reason you need to seal it well is because the water from the windshield drains right there, and you don't want that in your car. Good luck!
khsonic03 is correct, the hole is huge, just make sure to reseal the hole you cut in the grommet. It comes out behind the glove box, but all you have to take off is the panel below the glove box, and shine a flashlight from above, and you can see the wire coming down. Very easy, actually.

if it's not too much trouble, could one of u guys take a pic of where that huge grommet is? specifically, from the 'under-the-hood' side? I've half-removed the battery cover before to look for a hole, but I'll definitely take another look. This is an '05 coupe, too. Thanks,

Man. How many watts are u running? The power wire from my battery to the starter on my Navigator is only 4awg. Unless you're building some monster system, I think 0awg is really overkill.

well, I picked up these soundstream amps (van gogh series), and they seem to pull a lot of current. They're the 500.4 and 800.2 amps, fuse ratings 133 and 150A
(esp b/c I just read on infinitinews.com that our alternators are only 110A). Bridged, they'll run 500Wx2 and 800Wx1. They're more than adequate for my speakers, but that's my intention. I probably won't ever pull the max current, but it's kinda about headroom. I don't play it super loud all the time, but I want the power to be there.
Also, knowing what a pain it is to redo the wiring, I should do it right the first time. 4awg is good for up to about 100 or 125A, if I remember correctly.
