For me, it would depend on what you want the most out of a system. Both the kenwood and eclipse are the top DD units. But remember, if you add navigation to the kenwood you are looking at about 3000.00 w/out installation. the Eclipse runs from 1600.00 to 2100 w/ nav built in. Plus you won't have to spend and extra 400 for hdd (the Music keg is about that) I was quoted 2100 for the AVN5495, I prefer Eclipse. If the Kenwood and Nav is around that price, for me I will go with the Kenwood and place the eclipse in the Z.

Does anyone know if you can play mp3's burned to a dvd (with eclipse deck)? I haven't tried. I don't think you can, but it would be pretty sweet if it did work.

Kenwood's retail prices are highly inflated. If someone is charging you $3000 for the kenwood+nav system, I suggest you shop around.

You can see by a quick search on google that this system can be bought much cheaper!!!!

I also went to Circuit City and saw a AVIC-D1 on display and the screen quality was actually pretty good. Still no dvd player though....

I went to this independently owned stereo shop and used ebay prices as my bargaining chip and I offered to pay cash.

BlackonBlackG35,

For me it came down to the ddx-7015 vs the avn2454. Here's the pros and cons lists I made before deciding on the Kenwood. I know the 2454 isn't one of the ones you're looking at but it might still help:

Kenwood DDX-7015

Pros
Play DVD/Nav at the same time
5.1 add on available
Remote included
MP3s on DVD-R/W or CD-R/W
Different Audio Out
Voice Control Nav Add On Available
TV Tuner controlled by HU (TV is a separate add on)
Input Video Signal detection (automatically switch inputs)
Radio Data System (RDS)
Accepts Joliet and Romeo in addition to 9660 CD formats (long file names)
HD Radio Add on available
24 FM Presets
Sirius & XM Satellite Ready
iPod adapter (got one and love it)

Cons
No separate reverse cam input
Nav slightly slower than the Eclipse (the nav speed has never bothered me though)
Nav is a separate unit

Eclipse AVN-2454

Pros
Play DVD video and CD audio at the same time
Nav is built in to head unit
Nav is slightly faster then the Kenwood
Separate reverse cam input (must use Eclipse cam)

Cons
No MP3s on DVD
No Dolby 5.1 add on available
No remote included
No nav voice add on
Only 6 FM presets
No HD Radio add on available
Accepts 9660 cd format only (no long filenames)

I got a quote for the avn 5495 from sound innovations and they quoted me $2699 for the unit & $350 for installation. Are dealers flexible on the pricing at all?

sure they can be flexible, but I dont think ernie will deal any at all... , try Junior's car stereo in fremont right in front of train station, or Street Beat in hayward.

lol , yeah got the quote from ernie. so it seems like he's not going to budge from the quote price eh?
Googled Junior's car stereo but it seems like they aren't an authorized eclipse products dealer. Couldn't come up with anything on Street Beat on goolgle though, any idea if they're an authorized eclipse products dealer?

Abit out of topic but, when watching a movie incar (2 hours?), is it gonna be hard as in positioning urself to look at the LCD which is pretty like I would think for 2 hours? What about the passengers (coupe)?

I had N1 on my last G, I watch the DVD excatly twice whole frakin year! the worst money that I ever spended, both time was with my nephew and niece in the car , no matter how good the screen's resolution is, watch that lil screen its gonna take some use to.

not sure if they are "authorized" dealer or not, but they both carry Eclipse's speakers, since Eclipse dont sell on internet, I would guess they are "authorized", "Junior" used to work for Ernie at Sound Innovations, so he is been trained right ...

thanks, I'd think that I'll put the player into good use since I'm in college could spend the time between classes doing something heh. Just worried that I'd get a sore neck from looking downwards and rightwards for 2 consecutive hours( I believe the screen is below chest level?)

Thats expensive. Should be able to buy for $2399 probably even cheaper when its fully released.

http://www.cartoys.com quoted me $2399. They have over 200 retail stores. They might not have it in stock yet but, it already has a SKU# and price in the computer.
