DigitalWheelz 2.0, Pics Inside!

looks nice (I'm pretty happy with my setup with v1 so I'll probably stick with that).
I am interested in the software you have running there - is that your new product?
Any tidbits on that - pricing, availability etc? Looking for any beta testers with that? I've got a 2.4 Ghz P4 with ATI 9100 IGP graphics and 512 MB RAM running Win XP SP2.
(thanks again for a great product)

YEs the software running in the screen shots is UbiquityV. It will be sold as both a software only and a bundled product.
Retail price will be $99 for non-NAV, $299 for NAV enabled, still working on full system prices and specs.
Its in closed BETA testing now and not available publicly. There will be a downloadable demo version out within a month or two.
For more information, check here http://www.digitalwheelz.com/UbiquityV_About.htm

Just fininished the installation instructions for upgrading from a 1.0 to 2.0 screen. They can be found online here. http://www.digitalwheelz.com/G35Scre...tallation.html
The upgrades will go on sale next week sometime. The complete housing probably within the next two weeks.
I finished experimenting with different paint schemes. Revision 2.0 screens will all come with a glossy 3 layer clear coat finish over the raw aluminum by default. This finish matches the same level of gloss found in the interior accents. I decided I will NOT be offering black, but I will be offering unpainted frame as an option so you can paint it whatever color you want. There will be up to a 2 week waiting period for unpainted frames.

The Rev 1.0 to 2.0 upgrade kits are now available online from the DigitalWheelz store site: https://st22.startlogic.com/~digital...alog/index.php
The full install kits are not ready yet. This is ONLY for the upgrade for 1.0 screens. Full kits will probably be ready around June 6th. I will probably take pre-orders the week before they start shipping.
I also have some bad news to report. I just found out that the longer ribbon display cables that my supplier promised me, don't work with 7" xenarc screens. I was anticipating this as a possibility and have already placed an order to have my own cables custom made to spec. This, however, is going to take another 5-11 weeks. In the mean time, I will start selling the Revision 2.0 G35 screen housing, however, there will be two limitations in the product that I can't solve without the longer cable, these were the same limitations in the 1.0 housing and will not stop the housing from working, but will make it more difficult to install. The problems are:
1. The 6 inch cable is just barely long enough to allow the screen to extend out, this means that if you are not careful during the install, you can over extend the screen and pull out the cable and possibly damage the cable and or electronics.
2. The shorter display cable means that the video controller circuit board is limited to where it can be placed and the screen housing will require the same very minor cutting that the 1.0 product required in order to fit. Please see the install instructions at http://www.digitalwheelz.com/G35Scre...stallGuide.doc for more details on what has to be cut.
The good news is that I had to order 5 times the number of ribbon cables I could reasonably use to meet minimum order requirements. This means that I will have alot of extra cables and if you purchase a revision 2.0 digitalwheelz screen, once I get the new cables in, if you have problems with the install, you can request a new longer cable and you will be shipped one free of charge. I will also apply this retroactively, so if you have a 1.0 screen and want a longer display cable for any reason, you can request one and it will be shipped out free.
In any case though, the screen housing is not particularly difficult to install once you get the center console apart. However, if you are not certain of your installation skills, you should wait until the assembled screens are offered with the longer display cable sometime within the next couple of months.
