Hi there...I am an MB Quart dealer. Top of the line are the QSD 6.5 seperates but many people don't like them because the tweeters are too bright. This can be fixed by some processors. The next popular model would be the PCE 216's (6.5 seperates). As far as an amp is concerned, I would stick with JL and go with either the 450/4 or the 300/4.

How are these speakers without the new amp? Better than Boston Acoustics or Kenwoods I assume. How much better?

If you want the MBQ sound without the brightness, I highly recommend the A/D/S P series. good stuff.

As far as the question from Homeslice, I don't think you can just replace drivers in the bose system. The issue - with my former Mercedes anyhow - was that Bose used really freaky resistance... speakers were like 1.6Ohms or 3.3 or other weird numbers. This mismatch could cause failure or overheating in the amp - not a good thing no matter how you slice it.

If the Infiniti bose, on the other hand, use standard ohm ratings, please someone let me know - I'll start ripping that paper cr@p out today!

IF stock speakers are at 1.6 or 3.3 ohms? there should be no problem for bose amp to run 4ohm speakers.

What are the P series? I had 641Is and 346IM very smooth highs, but not sure about the newer ones that came out after DEI brought them out

I have the MB Quart Q's. And they are very very bright. I got used to the brightness after a year but I don't think I would buy them again for what I listen to.

Just curious, did you attenuate (-0 to -6db) them to reduce the brightness ?
If not (and if you have access to them) try to adjust them and see if that helps.

Adding rear speakers tends to pull your soundstage behind you, some people say thats fine however others disagree (like me). If you put enough clean power to the Q's (i.e biamp/biwire) you wont even be able to hear yourself think let alone wish you had rear speakers.

Honestly, let the Q's run solo for a few - if you feel you'd be happier with rear fill (keep in mind that your sub will help balance the sound) then order/install some 6x9's.

Hope that helps....
