I have factory XM, i'm pretty sure the Infiniti XM reciever won't work with the aftermarket units but will at least the antenna work?

Yes, I used my factory 05 XM antenna with an aftermarket XM tuner.

Not sure about 03-04 antenna.

this might sound like a stupid question but is there any way to use the same antenna for both sat radio and the gps nav? I'd like to avoid putting an antenna on the inside if possible.

OK found it.
Looks like it's up under the dash.
As long as there's no shielding should work, Yes?

Thought I'd add a key piece of info to this thread... on the topic of why not the N1 ... other than giving up DVD video playback, the D1 gains realtime traffic data incorporated into the NAV routing. Now when you say, get me there quickest, it takes into account road sensor data and literally does just what you asked... versus the dump calculations made based on speed limits of a road -- which if you've used OEM nav you know are usually wrong because of traffic.

Cheers.

another question about the Pioneer AVIC-D1...since it has an a/v input can i hook up a PS2 to it...and would i be able to use the PS2 to play DVD's also??? this would seem like a good alternative to buying another external dvd player...

I assume that would work - the limitation about DVDs is purely legal, not technical. Pioneer just decided that for units that MUST be mounted in the dash, that it was inviting danger to give DVD capabilities, whereas the N-2 has DVD capability and video outputs (so, in theory, you can watch DVDs on rear mounted monitors). That's my guess, at least...

The D-2 will have no idea what is coming in, so if you play a DVD via PS2, that should work. Why you'd want to, I don't know - it is actually dangerous for the rest of us if someone is watching a DVD while driving!!! I'm sure that won't be you, though, right?
