JL 12w6v2 vs. Kicker L5/L7
Hello all,
I just got Kicker KX600.1 amplifier with Boston Acoustics 12" G2 Subwoofer in my G35 coupe.
After 2 days, the sub blew out and I took it back to the shop and he said he'll replace with anything I want, except I have to pay the price difference.
Anyways, I'm considering JL 12W6v2 or the Kicker 12" Solobaric L7 or the L5.
I didn't really like Bostons because the bass was too tight and accurate. I like bass that's really deep and low, not really tight.
I understand that Kickers are also pretty tight bass but never heard any in a car. Which subs do you guys recommend for my KX600.1 Amp? (300x1 at 1ohm, 600x1 at 2ohm) JL Audio 12W6v2 is 400watts RMS compared to L7 750watts RMS (which I'm wondering if my kicker amp can handle) and the L5 is 600 RMS. My amp is enough for the 12w6v2 right? Would I have to worry about blowing the sub (400watt RMS) if I turn up the gain a lot on my 600watt amp?
The owner of the shop told me that JLs don't have warranties, so I'm also afraid if I blow another sub, i'd have to buy new one. For my taste of bass, I think JL would be a better choice, but any suggestions will be very much appreciated.

I was going through the same decision making process when I was upgrading my amp and sub. I bought the kicker L7 12" first and then decided to buy the amp to fit...Well let me tell you, anything under 500 watts rms is not going to be enough...I bought a 300 watts rms amp first and then after a month, I sold it about bought a Hifonics 1500D amp running 1000 watts at 2 ohms. Now that is one loud set up. I have it set at like 50% and that is plenty loud enough. I would say the JL would probably be your best bet since the rms on the sub and amp are closer.
Hope this opinion helps you choice...BTW, what are the price upgrades for the 2 different subs..

i've got a sealed 12" L5... and local if you want to meet up sometime and hear it. It's in a 1.4cuft sealed box. i've got a 600x1 xtant amp powering it. not super tight like a 10" and it gets the lows really well. PM me and we can setup some time during the week. this weekend's crazy for me... wedding and detailing.
