LOL...I needed that chuckle tonight. Thanks
Well...this thread has, surprise surprise, turned into a slugfest. I guess we all know they are both good but its all about the arrows! hehe
Thanks for all those who have replied

From my FWIW dept. I enabled the "POP" feature on my 8500 x50 and the only thing it has found with it in the four months since I turned it on is, other radar detectors.
After turning off the POP and the X band, this thing KICKS ***!

The POP feature works... I pick up plenty of POP signals on interstate highways.
Anyway, while V1 shows the strongest signal and the directions of all signals, it doesn't show the individual strength of each signals, which X50 does. The best ditector in the world would be mix of V1 and X50. I personally prefer being able to see each strength of signals. It is not that hard to figure out the directions of them by watching how the strength of signals change unless you're dumb. Let me just say I never missed the arrows but I would definately miss the many bars of X50. Plus I like saving $100+
Only paid $250 for my X50.

V1 tells you the strenght of the signal that is the most threatening. No need for a 2nd signal strenght as you should stop for the 1st one anyway.
Truth is, people who speed, mostly speed on highways. What do you rather have on highways, more reach plus direction, or more signal strength readouts?
I was about to get the x50 and I thank god I got the V1 instead. My friend has the x50 and after taking a 1 hour trip to Orlando with him, I much rather have the V1. Besides, if you plan to hardwire, V1 comes with a hardwire install for fools. Its soooo easy.

I would agree that the ultimate detector would be a mix of the x50 and V1. However, if you look at the feature set of both as well as many of the reviews, the x50 is a better value. For radar detection, the x50 and V1 are comparable. The x50 has less false detection (based on reviews I've read here and other sites), individual strength indicators, auto-mute, comes with remote display, cheaper, and (IMHO) looks better. The V1 has arrows, better laser detection (although it's questionable how useful this is), and very loyal customers. :P
However, as someone else said, the best advice is to get both and try them out and return one. I believe the both have a 30 day trial period.

Yeah, both have the trial period.

No need for that though. Check the video out where the V1 is right besides the x50 and see for yourself.

Damn I lose power because of a storm and Wrah goes on a rampage. I think that Wrah needs to relax ALOT. If Wrah took the time to READ my posts he would see that I was Giving an opinion and still told the original poster to buy both and test for his own expirence. Wrah has now gone on a name calling session against me when I was just offering an opinion. Bro you need to come off your high horse and calm down. Everyone has an opinion on this, and that is fine, but there is no need to start with the bashing of another because of your opinion. I'm done with this thread as it now has become pointless as someone else has expressed. To the original poster your BEST bet would be to buy both and test them for yourself and return the loseing detector. Good Luck!

I can go on and on...... I wanted to sent an e-mail to Mr.V but the web site isn't working.
"Why are you using out-dated data when ading, and compairing your detector to the others?"
BEL has made quite an show as well, but V1 hasn't updated enough to even fight them?

Anyway, after reviewing which like to click on (in this case MT) I read the reviews and the ONLY reason the escort came out literally .1 points higher was because it had better value versus the V1. If that's the case wouldn't be safe to say, not accounting for cost, the V1 is still the best?
