No way x50 can beat that.
Well, the 8500 would show a strong Ka signal (via bar graph) and a weaker K signal. So what it comes down to is that the V1 would show the direction of the stronger signal (I guess it could be the store's automatic door if that has the strong signal?) whereas the 8500 would show which signal was stronger, but not give you the direction.

The Valentine One can pick up 9 sources of any band (X, K, Ka)

The X50 can only pick up 8 sources (4 X, 2 K, 2 Ka). Why pick up 4 X sources if it is hardly in use anymore?

V1 Wins!!

After 8-9 pages of this, I'd just say pick up both of them, and see which one you prefer. If you like how the 8500 is, then great. If you think the V1 is worth the extra $100, then great. Both will do fine in protection.

Nice to see the V1 won again for such "old technology" some people say.

Does anyone else get false laser alerts when behind braking GM SUVs like the Envoy?

My V1 goes nuts every time I am behind one of these and they hit the brakes. Twice, I was behind them at a red light and the laser alert was on the entire light until the driver got off the brake. I also think I got a couple of false laser alerts as the sun was setting, but that is harder to duplicate.

I also just got an new Passport 8500 to evaluate for 30 days. Today I drove with both on at the same time, but unfortunately it causes them to false. Now I am waiting to find a trap to do several passes to compare. Yeah, I know this won't be a complete test. I'm doing it because I am curious to see the outcome.

I bought both the V1 and the X50. Hated the V1, it false alarmed all the time. In all real threat circumstances, the X50 went off either earlier or at the same time as the V1. With much better display on the X50, sending back the V1 was a no brainer. I might consider a V1 again some time in the future if they update the 1980s display and add some better intelligence to the false alarm detection.

That being said, the X50 has saved my a$$ countless times now. I'm sure the V1 would have done the same, but I likely would have had it turned off or ignored it since it would have gone off just minutes before.

Did you put your V1 in intelligent mode, or did you leave it in All-Bogey mode?

Where in the Coupe are you mounting these radar units, on the windshield, dash, just curious, and after reading all of this i still can't decide which to choose. Gonna have to go with the old reliable coin flip!!!
