factory key FOB range

Anyone have any ideas on how to improve the range of the factory key fob? Anything the dealer can do?

Not really. My factory one goes far enough. Some ppl say to put the remote against the underside of your chin and that will maximize the distance. I don't know if that's true or not.

yes the chin thing works. my range is really far compared to aftermarket alarms i've had in the past. maybe you could have it looked at (if distance is a problem)

yes, put the end with the antenna under the chin and slowly rotate it while pressing the button. I can arm it the underground parking garage from my bedroom doing that.

You can also use your wrist if you're out in a parking lot and don't want to look silly (hold it against wrist and again rotate it slowly), but I get better range using my chin.

My fob will easily work from 275' away (almost the length of a football field).

I don't know why you're having trouble.

I know it helps with the chin trick, but a person sure looks stupid doing this manuevre . The first time I tried it my wife asked me how much I had to drink .

The chin thing does work, but I've never found out exactly why! I have noticed though, that just raising your remote to chin level improves the distance, but not as much as acutally touching it to your chin.

When designing a remote keyless entry system engineers are constrained by limitations. They have to keep the remote small, so a small battery has to be used. And, since they don't want customers coming back for new batteries every 6 months they limit the power of the transmitter. It would be nice if it was a bit longer though, mine works at about 50', but I know of people who get less then 10' of range!
