Don't EVEN try to say that this is a user error when it's really an installation error. The fact is that keys get turned off while discs are playing. We can like it or not, but that's how car electronics get used. If we ignore that in our installs or our designs, then we're half-assing them.
In other words, tying the constant to a switched source is a stupid way to wire this thing - as Audiovox found out when they shipped thousands of RSE DVD systems that "forgot" where they were in the movie everytime the key got turned off - they HAD no constant wire. Horrible consumer experience, big complaints.
Hey man, I am trying to help an amateur out in the easiest way possible that he would understand and not $hit bricks when it keeps turning off like before...atleast this way he can see that it works until things are wired correctly. Remember, Im the EE, he isn't (hence my wiring methods FOR HIM). More than this and I'll just fly out there and do the damn thing myself.
And no, it is NOT a user error either. I'm smarter than that.
PD (What duderino is saying is that you need a constant hot to the red, but the yellow can go to the cig lighter since that IS a VACC (accessory voltage)). <---This would be the "right way" since power is always going to the player, allowing it to retain its last position of the movie even if the key is turned to the off position WHILE the DVD player is on or playing the movie.

Yes I understand that, so in essence red would need to wired directly to the battery and the yellow to the cig lighter. However your method did work, and the dvd player still retains its spot once you turn it off/on.....however thats as long as the car still remains on I believe. I think once I turn the car off, then its spot is gone...

This is basically what I stated earlier, so no surprise there. But for a quick hack, it works.

PD, no worries my friend. Just think of it as friendly forum advice
You did the work, I only told you how to do it
Anyways, goodluck with your setup, and try not to be like me and get distracted by your TV tuner or a movie
But how else do I beat LA traffic
all good, if the car is being turned off, then im leaving it so i wont need to resume, but i think ur right, if i turn it off manually it'll still hold its place. whadevah, you got my vote for governor gee!!
