New 06 NAV display looks different my Q? is

I was surfing on INFINITI site, and I noticed this change on the NAV system. Would I be able to get same display if I got the 06 nav CD or I have to change all the system?

i'm guessing no since the DVD should just be the map data... although if it also updates the firmware then probably...

There is a technical service bulletin (TSB) that probably answers your question:

http://www.infinitihelp.com/Ownershi.../ITB05-050.htm

It indicates that the new 2006 G35 uses the revision 7.0 software, whereas the older 2003-2005 models use the 6.3 or 6.4 software and the two are not interchangeable.

My G35 coupe came with the 6.3 software, and it does not list the street upon which I live. The street was put in about 3 years ago. That's some major lag time. The 6.4 pdate is a $190!!!! Go to http://www.zenrin.com Compare that to the average computer mapping programs for $40-50 which are far superior. I know the line. Smaller distribution; specialized hardware, Infiniti badge; read "captive audience." I've filed a "data error report" and ordered the update. I hope they can find my street.

Upgrading the map info can be easily achieved by sticking in a newer version of the map. However, judging from the first picture, it appears to be that other different functions such as the trip computer, gas consumption, maintenance, etc., all look different as well. These are not functions of the CD but rather the firmware (think of it as the underlying OS). - This one, while attainable (I would think) through upgrading the firmware, might cost a bit more than just getting a newer CD.

I have a service appointment tomorrow and I'll make sure to ask my dealer about this.

Sorry slightly off topic but since we are talkin about Nav, I had a question about programming it. I know that stock you can only program it while the car is not moving, but does this mean that the car just has to be standing still or does it mean it has to be in park?? Also I cant tell from that picture but what seems to be the difference between the new Nav and the old?

Car must be going 0 mph to program nav; gear doesn't matter.

I'm sure our navs can't be "upgraded" anyway its really about time they upgraded the navi GUI.

Also I have seen two different kinds of buttons for the fan speed on the website, I Think the 06 may have slightly different buttons.
