DIY DYNAMAT DOORS ANYONE?? Need Help

Like the title, I'm looking to dynamat my doors...I've used search but all the DIY Pics are scrambled. I could use a DIY with pics for the sedan, but i'll settle for coupe too. Also, would it be worthwhile to dynamat the hood? Has anyone done that? Is it flammable/dangerous to be in a proximity to the engine bay?

Thanks a lot guys, any help is truly appreciated.

If you decide to do the engine compartment, which has never been worth in in my experience, use an engine-specific product like the Cascade material for underhood use.

I've also seen people dynamat their floorboards, but that looks like a major pain in the @ss...Removing all the carpets, (not gonna touch the seats), and laying down all that dynamat...seems like too much work.

Dude, you think just the doors and the trunk are my best bet?

Thanks bro

I've already dynamatted my trunk but the installers didn't do the upper deck area where the cabin connects to the rear, I gotta take it back to them and see if they'll do it. If not I am gonna just do it myself, I swear nothing gets done the right way unless you just buck up and do it yourself.

Mike, the doors panels come off very easily. Wish I took pics of my install now, but when I did it, it was very common sense.

1) Take off the woodgrain (if you have it) with a flathead, there should be a little slot underneath it where you can pop it off. Unscrew the two screws in there.

2) Pop off the square plastic tab where the door handle is, unscrew that screw.

3) If you yank on the whole door panel in a out and up motion (see what works best), the whole thing should pop off, keep in mind that the panel is still connected to the door by the window motor and wires.

4) Simply unscrew the screws that hold them to the panel, and you should be good to go.

This is for a coupe (sorry). Please take pics during your install if you can, I'd love to post the DIY on my G35 reference site (http://digitalwheelz.com/diy).

When you dynamat (or brown bread) the door, you may wish to put the material on the *outer* metal panel. This requires removing around a dozen bolts. Don't worry the window won't fall down. Then also put a few patches on the outside of the inner metal panel. This way if a tech ever needs to get into the door (to replace the window motor for example), they won't get stuck because you layered over all the bolts. The matting does *not* need to be continuous to be effective.

ps. do a search for a thread regarding "sound deadening the g" by shooter - great DIY guide.

i saw in another thread somebody mentioned to be cautious of putting the dynamat where it could get wet...... is this a possibility when putting it on the inside of the outer door skin??

( i have never taken apart my door so im not exactly sure where the water goes, etc.)

thanks

I wouldn't bother with doing the outer part of the door. Unless you're going into some major install or looking into competitions. I just did the inner side of the door and noticed a big difference. The door just sounds more solid when you close it and the cabin is quieter.
