V1: Hardwire to rearview Mirror

Just recieved my V1 and mounted just left of my rearview mirror.
I am planning on hardwiring to the power that supplies the mirror.
I noticed therer is a plug behind the mirror I could tap into.

Does anyone know howto or has wired their detector to this power source?

For the remote unit, I think the black is the ground and the yellow is hot. But I had to figure it out for V1 since there are no schematics in the manual, so I can't guarantee you what they do since I didnt have the remote unit with me during the install. But I am almost certain thats what it is.

i used the power from the mirror for a very easy install........there are 3 mirror wires, black (ground), black with red stripe (dont know), black with pink stripe (power)......just slice the cover over the mirror wires (be careful) then cut back the insulation on the 2 wires. I used the remote kit (bought it from Passport) cut the "telephone wires" to the correct length, exposed the power and ground and then soldered the wires to the mirror.....

I'm interested in doing the same thing. Can this be done using the telephone wires supplied with the V1? Why did you have to use the ones with Passport out of curiosity? THanks

i have a passport instead of a v1........the standard cord with the passport is the cig lighter and i didn't want to cut this up, so i purchased the remote kit instead..........

So is the power line switched with the ignition? Also, are there other mirror combinations for the G35, or just a couple (powered vs non-powered)? Sorry for all the noob questions, but I would like to add some of this info to my webpages for installation info for future use by customers.
