x50 Self Calibration

The self cal (Self Calibration) message appeared on my Escort Passport x50 the other night and before it "finished" (i guess) I had to turn the car off and thus the power to it. When i powered it up the next time the message did not appear. Can anybody provide some advice with this? I have an extended replacement warranty on it from Best Buy... Should I have it replaced? This is the first time (6 months since i bought it) that I got the self cal message and have never gotten the Service Required Message.

anyone? i've heard people say that radar detectors that go into self cal mode will eventually need service soon.
