After Market Radio

Thinking About Doing An Aftermarket Stereo System In My Car. I Noticed That The A/c Controls And Radio Are On The Same Panel. Has Anyone Changed Their Radio And What Did You Have To Do?

There is a sticky at the top of this forum talking about this, '05 Double Din', assuming you have an 05 or 06. There is also a write up for an 03-04 conversion. Will cost you about $400.00 in parts plus the new radio.

Actually the cost is only about $275 if you order it from Grubbs.

You sure? I could've sworn that the 05 double-din kit costs $400. That's what I paid from Yoshi's Garage.

Yes $403 from Yoshi, $275 from Grubbs.

For a long time Grubbs did not have the '05-'06 version in stock. The only source was from Japan, which costs a bit more. So if Grubbs have the items in stock, they would be the cheap source.

FYI, you only need the DIN finisher and the AC controller. The car already has the bracket. You will still need to do the LED and switch soldering to keep the dual climate control.

Can you explain why we wouldnt need a double din bracket? The grubbs site sells a bracket for nav and non nav. Can we use our original bracket?
Are you saying that the bracket on the oem headunit is the same exact bracket they are selling to us?

Yoshi emailed me saying:
68260-AM913 (Double din dash Titanium) : 56.90USD.
27500-AL501 (AC Controller) : 220.50USD.
68475-35F00 ( Dash Pocket) : 9.30USD (if you need)
68470-60M00 (Radio mask) : 5.70USD (if you need)
28038-AL700 ( Bracket for w/o navi/radio) : 32.97USD
Shipping cost : 57.00USD.
Commission of 5% : 19.11USD
Total : 401.48USD

Because there is gap if you use the USDM bracket, we might want to recommend
the JDM bracket. Or, if you would consider to install the 2DIN type audio
(if you do not use the pocket/mask), you might not need the bracket. Could
you please confirm the parts? Because we have attached pictures, we hope
that it is your help. Thank you.

So if we get the finisher, do we need the bracket too?

This sticky thread should answer all your questions, around post #17. The bracket from Grubbs 'looks' just like the bracket in my 05 Sedan. I have the dash open to install the Harman/Kardon Drive+play unit.

HAHAHAHAHAHA...That question have and will be ask for long time to come. No, you dont need it, they include it in, cus back in 03 no one knew about it, and on one(other than few of us) actually have them so just be on safe side we got the bracket...but for peace of mind? why not spend extra 33 bucks...

I just tried to read that multi page thread and I'm more confused now, since I can't tell if people are talking about coupes or sedans, and what models/years. So let me ask, specifially for my 05 coupe 6MT without dual climate control or navi, do all I need to get is the double din finisher from grubbs?

regardless how many doors you've got or what model year(so far),whather or not you have premium Bose or not, as long its an G35?...you will need AC controller and D/D finisher to change out the radio......But the bracket is optional tho
