Question Avh-p6800dvd v. Z1

Sometimes I read that the Avh-p6800dvd and the Z1 are the same unit and sometimes they sound like two different models.

Are they the same thing?

DAMN. this is exactly what i have been looking for...mp3, changer, cell bluetooth synch, ipod control & nav. AND a 30gig HD? this thing does EVERYTHING. this can't get in stores fast enough for me...

tweeter in dallas is quoting me $120 for this installed if i buy the double din parts myself. they are expecting a retail of $2249, but they have no idea when it will hit their stores. they think march, but probably april...

anyone know how the mic for cell phone integration is handled? is it like a separate mic that can be installed on the b-pillar or above the rearview mirror, or is it built into the unit?

The avic-z1 will probably not be available untill may if not into june. Selling price will be 2249.99. It will play dvds in park only. If it is like the last years navy screens, once you go over five miles an hour the video will shut off even if you have the e-brake wire switched. They do this because of legal reasons. More and more states are passing laws to make it illegal to watch video infront of the two front seats. Blue tooth will be an option, along with the 30gig hard drive. Sat radio ready with xm/sirius. Xm nav traffic and possably sirius new nav traffic. Full I-pod control with the cdib100, and who knows what other features. The look of it will be simalar to the pics above but in a black finish with blue buttons(unless they change something between now and then). heres a link to a video about it. http://www.cnet.com.au/special/ces2006/?vid_id=17

Pioneer has it up on their website now. I played it with it at the Auto show in Baltimore----my local dealer had it on display. Real cool. Graphics are cool but it is a little confusing--seemed like a delay when touching the screen. However, I am not sure it can record like the Eclipse unit can. My preference is still Eclipse units. I think if I had another car I would purchse this unit so I would have two different systems. I did not see the new 6 DVD unit.

I have a 03' sedan completely stock. I want to do a DD conversion with the Pioneer AVH-P6800DVD. I know that I must get the DD conversion kit from grubbs or mynismo.com but what else must I purchase to make this work? I am not sound system savvy so, is it a must that i get an amp. or change any of the speakers? I'd like to stay within a $2000 budget. Thanks for any advice.
