o5 w/smartkey

is it possible to add alarm to my car if i have smart key?
will i be able to still arm/disarm alarm by pushing button on handle or will i have to hit the unarm/arm button on the alarm remote? i want to add autostart to my car. will that require me to stick my key in to ignition to drive away or will i be able to get in and turn ignition like normal with out key and still be able to drive away? and yes i know i need to leave a spare key in the car to get around imobilizer.i would hate to lose my smartkey functions.

as far as I know you can even add remote start to your existing remote.

Yes you can add an alarm and a remote start, not a problem Ive done a few already.

Although if you continue to use your door button or factory remote it will set the aftermarket alarm off.

No you dont need to put a key in the cylinder to drive away, all will be how it is now.

Yes you can, just not to lock/unlock the doors as it will set off the aftermarket one.

If you want to do that, then you would not have a two way and would be limted to range.

Let me get this straight. So you can have remote start with intelligent key on an 05 but you wont be able to use the black button on the outside of the door or the remote buttons to unlock it? So the intelligent key is reduced to only being able to start the car without it? Is there any way around this?

If your using any unit that has secutiry (Viper 791 or the like) then it would be pointless to press the button anyway. Thats what the remote is for. But to answer your question, yes that would be true, unless your not using the security features of the alarm, reducing that to being nothing more than just a remote start.

You can add remote start to your factory remote, but as I posted above, youll be limited on range.

Ah, so as long as I dont use the security features that come with the remote start kit I can still use all the features of intelligent key now? Plus I can get the remote start feature added to my intelligent key so that when i press a certain key combination the car will start? Is it also possible in this situation to be able to use both the intelligent key and the remote that comes with the kit just for starting the car (because the range is longer on the kit or i sometimes might not want to even use the remote from the kit)?

Great!! So what kit do you recommend? And is there anything I should tell the installer on how to link it up with the intelligent key?
