iPod and Sirius Satellite

So I have had my new 2005 G35 Coupe for 1.5 weeks now and I need to do two things: Hook up my iPod and get the Sirius satellite radio in the factory unit. Here is what I've encountered so far.

iPod - I purchased the Griffin iTrip and it kind of sucks, too much static and I would really like to get this hard wired in, but am weary about getting the perfect aftermarket solution.

Sirius - The dealer wanted $600 dollars to install it in the factory unit!!. I know they like to overcharge, but I thought this was a bit ridiculous and thought I would shop around. Can I purchase the factory kit myself and install it? I am using a Sirius Starmate right now and have it hidden where the Navi goes and its ok, but would rather have it in the factory unit.

Is there an aftermarket deck that would fit into this car without modifying the whole dashboard? Looking for some ideas. Hope you all can give me some advice.

Thanks....

You can buy the reciever here much cheaper: http://www.grubbsperformance.com/Mer...=G35CoupeAudio

Most likely you can install it yourself. Check the audio section for more info.

PAC AAI-NIS2 from Pacific Audio. You can pick it up from logjamelectronics.com (it's on backorder as AAI-NIS but should be available soon)

provides an AUX in for your ipod connection and also allows the sat connection to work

I'm getting mine in a couple of weeks hopefully!

IPOD FM transmitters typically don't give very good sound. That said, the ipodlounge.com did a review on FM Transmitter products. Based on that I bought this one:

Kensington Digital FM Transmitter for iPod - It is made by company Aerielle for the company Kensington and you can buy in stores or many Web pages such as - http://www.aerielle.com/shop/index.html. It looks like they build for Iriver U10 model and also many others.

It charges, powers and does FM transmission all at once and the sound it just like the review said... awesome. I am very happy with this product.

Hope this helps.

Thanks...I will check it out.

Does anyone know if the factory deck has an auxiliary plug in the back to attach an RCA adapter cable, I have seen them in Crutchfield, but I can't tell if it is for a G35 or not.

Thanks.

I just installed my Sirius SAT last week and I am going to need this for my iPod as well. How easy/hard is it to hook this up? I'm clueless when it comes to these kinds of electronics.

the PAC AAI-NIS2 says it only works for 2003-2005 Infinitis - is that because it simply hasn't had it's description updated, or did something chance?

Does the 2006 G35c come with the auxillary input?

I would actually love to see how it integrates with the system. Anybody have any pictures they could put up?

The Pacific Audio AAI NISV2 description says:

"Will NOT work if the vehicle is already equipped with a satellite receiver."

So what is the right answer? Will it work with factory Sat, or not?

that's because the description they have on that website is the write up for the AAI-NIS, not the NIS2. only the top part of the text applies to the NIS2.

http://www.pac-audio.com/instructions/AAI-NIS2.pdf

if you open up that PDF, which is PAC's installation instructions, it has a section clearly marked "For Vehicles with SAT radio installed". the NIS2 adapter has a switch that you can set for either "no sat" or "with sat". if you install it with SAT radio... presents 1-2 control the AUX inputs, and presets 3-6 operate as normal sat radio presets, if i'm reading their instructions correctly

Any idea about the other 6 presets (SAT2)? Do you still have use of all of them for satellite channels?

Glad I could help Pevans1027. I agree that the Kensington FM Transmitter for IPOD is the best on market! I love mine.

For all others that are looking for a good FM transmitters for IPOD / Iriver / or just any MP3 player...try these guys. I am not trying to promote their products... they just have the best sounding FM transmitters on market and I wanted to share with forum.

You can see their products at www.aerielle.com
