quick sub selection

Got the front DLS UP6 and JL 10w6 on the way. Ordering the 4080 box.

Now I need to choose an amp setup. I don't know what to get so I'm turning to you guys. What EXACTLY should I get to power these babies?

Also, do I need anything else? Do I need an LOC and if so what is a good one exactly? I'm buying all this equipment and going to find an installer. I live in BFE so this forum is the best way for me to get reliable info. All I know is that I want something that matches the quality speakers I'm buying (trust me, that's all I know). The only thing I want to buy from the installer is speaker wire.

I live in central FL. One last question to you installers...how many hours does it take to hook up this system?

I'm putting in a DVD player and rear view camera at the same time. I'm psyched!

I like JL Audio amps personally. Are you going to be running any rear speakers or just fronts? Do you have the Bose system and are you going to be keeping the stock HU?

Here's a few suggestions:
JL Audio 500/1 - perfectly matched sub amp for your 10W6V2 and what many here run
JL Audio 300/2 - 150x2 to power the DLS UP6
OR
JL Audio 300/4 - 75x4 for your DLS UP6 and a set of rear speakers

If you have the Bose system then you won't need and LOC. The JL slash series amps can accept the low level signal put out by the Bose HU. Just splice a set of RCAs into the HU outputs and run the RCA ends to the amps.
If you have the non-Bose system then you will need an LOC. I recommend the David Navone NE-774V.

Here's a couple threads that may give you some more information.

Jeremy you are very cool for taking that time to respond. I appreciate it very much.

Popular opinion on this site says that rear speakers are not necessary. So, I'm going to skip out on the rears.

I do have the Bose stereo. I plan to keep the HU because the money is going into the speakers and amp.

I guess there is someting to be said about matching the JL sub w/amp. It makes sense to me.

I do question using a JL amp for the DLS speakers though. El duderino said something a while back and for some reason I got the impression that JL amp for the DLS speakers wasn't his first or even second choice.

I would install your setup and leave your stock rear speakers attached to the bose amp; then, experiment with fading all the way to the front, and back to a normal setup and see if you like it with rear speakers or not.

Personally, I found that my ears missed the rear speakers, and that I thought it sounded better with rear speakers. they are turned pretty low, but are still there. It's a very subjective thing; some people like them, some don't.

Leave your options open, and get what sounds best to YOU, not what someone on a internet forum thinks sounds best.

el duderino owns a store that does not sell JL or Focal.... two brands which EVERYONE including himself say are great.... he just says he likes something else better. i doubt i'll be able to put into words what im trying to say... so please do not jump to the conclusion that i'm saying duderino is just saying that because he has something against those companies or that he is not objective... but you have to figure that all he hears all day is brands that HE sells and installs in cars. So much of high end speakers is the type of music you listen to and personal preference so i could imagine him thinking that anything else sounds inferior.
