Ipod Hook Up Usa Spec Pa11–nis And Pro Clip
ipod hookup
I picked up a 2003 G35 sedan last week and can't stop grinning. I am sold on the PA11-NIS, but am interested on the install. The only DIY install I found shows significant disassembly of the dash. It doesn't look hard, but sure looks time consuming. Has anyone found an easier way to get a PAC or USA Spec unit plugged in without removing the radio?
Edit- Finished! Works fine!! Will post a thread in a few!!

For you 2003.5 owners: I installed the PA11-NIS in my 2003.5 sedan tonight and it works great! It's a bit of a pain to disassemble the dash, but it was worth the trouble...
I used the non-playlist option, so I can flip thru songs with the steering wheel control or control with the ipod directly.
Like the 2005/06 models, the ipod is selected using the CD button on the radio -- it cycles between the indash changer and the ipod, so no functionality is lost. I confirmed that I can still play CDs like always.
Also - the manual notes that an extra cable is needed if you have NAV -- I called USA-SPEC and they told me that was an error. After installing, the voice on my nav works just fine.
Thanks to lalomarquez for the info on the PA-11 and g35ipod.com for the dash disassembly instructions!

My nav works just fine.. with no extra cables.. I still havent gotten back in to see what setting mine is on.. like posted earlier it has to be on playlist mode, as my display on the ipod is locked.. Apollodog, so in direct mode you can see the track info on the ipod?
Dude,
If your iPod displays Nissan 0k to disconnect, then you are in playlist mode-- go to page 3 in your manual or see this online manual for details. Move dip switch #2 to "OFF".
i suggest you disconnect the "RADIO" plug prior to changing the dip switch.
Once in direct mode the iPod display will go back to normal and you will be able to use it just as you normally would...in addition to that you can track up/down Fast Forward and Rewind from the radio buttons or from the steering wheel audio buttons--
Works that way in my brothers accord and my girls Golf-- all usaspec pa11 works the same way.

Just wondering if this unit is compatible with other MP3 players? After my second Ipod crapped out on me I switched to a Zen Micro and have had no problems. Before blowing $120 I want to be sure I can use it.
Yeah, I installed mine this weekend, and it works great. I am able to view/use the iPod to search and scroll (full control) and use the steering wheel to switch tracks. I also hardwired it into my ashtray. I will post pics later today.
