This sucks because I just ran out of warranty just few months back, and now I am being forced to replace it for $650!!!!

Does anyone know where I can get it replaced by some after market place or so in Southern California?

If you are going to leave that unit for a while in your car, keep trying a few times a day, don't go crazy with it though. Mine came out after a month or so, i used to try 2 to 3 times a day when i first got in the car, then i replaced the unit of course.

Such a prevalent problem, I wonder what the total percentage of units that have the error is. Almost seems like you should plan for the eventuality if it hasn't happened yet. Have your JDM or Metra DD kits on standby with the appropriate adapters, etc. I may just do that knowing it's likely to happen.

Do you have a link to a site that carries them?

now all 6 discs are stuck... funny thing is I bought 2 CD's last night and put them in this morning only for them to get stuck.
