So awhile back i asked for info on installing the USA SPEC PA11-NAS and de/re-assembling the dash. I didnt get a ton of info or feedback so wanted to post a little bit of info on the process.

It was a chore, about 1.5 hours to complete. As u can see in first pic the whole dash(besides airbags and steering wheel) has to be disassembled-JUST to get the radio out!

Taking apart the dash in my $40K+(new) car and re-assembling it didn't thrill me; but it turned out fine. Only due to a website that gave GREAT step-by-step photo instructions, check it out if needed: http://g35ipod.com/installHW.php?skin=1

In regards to the USA SPEC PA11-NIS it works great...

I wanted mine to be a clean install and totally stealth, as it is. When in use there is NO need to see the ipod as it displays nothing important and you can't control songs from it. Controls are all done through the radio/steer wheel controls.
In the bottom rear corner of the cup holder i drilled a small hole(less then 1/2") to get wire connection into cup holder. This way I can remove the wire if i'm going to dealer or something, you cant see the hole-its stealth. Yes it takes up the cup holder when ipod in there, BUT i don't drink anything in my luxury sports car. -besides water bottles that fit in the door.

Minor PA11-NIS complaints:
1)its slow to change the track in middle of a song(like 2-3 second delay)
3)no text of song playing on radio or ipod screen(that i have seen)
3)radio display only goes to 99 songs so if you are playing song #144 on you ipod it says #43 on radio. -Dumb stuff, but may be worth mentioning.

check out the pics, sorry they suck, but my digital camera was dead so used the video camera.

I have an '04 w/ nav, bose, and NO sat service but a sat button.

PM me or post here if you have any dash or USA SPEC PA11-NIS questions, if i have an answer i will try to help you.

Well, check the forums again.. I posted a PA11-NIS install thread HERE a few weeks ago and recently a radio removal DIY HERE

Congrats on the install though.

When the unit is in DIRECT mode you can use the IPOD screen as you would normally in addition to the use of the car controls... so you might want to consider unstealthing it. The unit ships with the Dip switch in PLAYLIST mode, which renders the ipod display and controls useless (which is probably what yours is in right now)

I have read your posts, they were helpful yes, but you MT06 is much different then my 04AT.

I'll check out direct mode(yes, i read about it in manual but i have not tired it yet.). So with that direct mode i could choose ANY playlist?-not just a "NISSAN1" playlist?
Regardless, I'm the type whom perfers the stealth look: no billboard to thieves that i have a $400 ipod in there. And the untouched look of the beautiful interior look is what i enjoy.

I say again.. DIRECT mode allows you to utilize the IPOD screen and controls NORMALLY in addition to the use of the cars radio controls. So if you stealth it, you wont see anything on the screen, if you are that worried about getting your ipod stolen, just do what I do, when I park at a club I take the Ipod out of the proclip and put it in the glovebox.

I guess it's personal preference; I'm not a fan of a clip hanging on the side of my dash or and wires showing(even a little bit) due to 1-theft(thieves still know what the clip is for), 2-cleanliness, and 3-the dealership. My brother(in is 03 G) has had to have his CD playerchanger replaced 3 times. With the way the dealers are I don't want them to know the wiring has changed/i modified the radio in any way-so i can remove my wire from the cup holder and POOF, its gone. Since i go to the same dealer every time then I know that if they are not removing the gear shifter cover or radio then they will have no idea i have ever done anything, no wires seen and no clips advertising the use of a modification.
I do think your set-up is convenient and looks nice, just not my style.-props on your install.

**
Please clarify for me-(the manual is not clear on this) when in DIRECT mode: If you HOLD down the track change button on the steering wheel while playing a song, what does it do? In cd changer mode it changes the disc(as you know) but what about in ipod DIRECT mode?

I'm sure you did post it somewhere, I must have seen his first due to him replying to a post I made.

artofdesign-I just installed the pa11-nis in my 04,bose, nav and it doesnt work. The ipod charges and in playlist mode say nissan on the ipod. How do you change to the ipod on your HU. When I hit cd nothing happens. In about 30 minutes I am going to put my car back together without the unit and then destroy it with a sludge hammer. Please help as soon as you can...thanks.

sorry wasnt online yesterday...

If it says "nissan" then it is hooked up or has power at least so thats good....

FIRST plug in the IPOD with car OR hu OFF, wait 2-3 secs then turn it(car or HU) on.

Once hooked up sometimes i hit the "disc or cd" button ONCE and it works fine.
Sometimes i have to hit the "disc or cd" a few times to get it to accept the IPOD and folders.

Also, sometimes after doing the above steps it only shows i have cd5 (folder5) avaible, so i have to do the steps above again to get it to see all 6 folders.

Also, did you label the folders correctly, as listed in the owners guide, if not then IPOD wont play your stuff.

Hope this helps man, if not its a install prob or defective unit, in any event contact USA*SPEC if doest work.

There are some warnings in the manual about when and how to hook up the unit, maybe this has something to do with the issue at hand?

I installed the unit about 2 weeks ago and love it. I have a recurring problem though in that it will not resume on my IPOD after an extended period of time. In other words, I turn off the car with a song playing on the IPOD but if I come back after a few hours the IPOD will not restart, it stays paused.

Kinda odd, any suggestions from the pro's?

Thx.

Just installed this in my 05 coupe w/ bose - works great! 2 quick tips -

1.) If you want to see the info on and retain control on the ipod as well as with the steering wheel/radio controls, set dip switch 2 to off.

2.) If you have an 05 or 06 follow the directions in the following thread, you don't need to remove the glove box, driver side panels etc. I wasted an hour following the directions for the 04, then I found this thread and it was a snap!
