Question Does the stock system play MP3 CDs?

Does the stock audio system in 2003-2004 G35s play MP3 CDs? If not, what do I need to do to make this happen?

No, not till 05...and I would think you need to simply change the Head Unit or get an Ipod and call it a day.

So it has a hookup for an ipod?

From what I remember and the pictures I just looked at again, it seems as though the stock head unit is part of the dash or does the plastic dash piece just come off to reveal the head unit?

Not sure on which after market decks fit, b/c the stock one is fine for me, but for like $59 you can get a Monster Wireless FM adapter for your ipod and it works perfect...some people complain about the minimal static here and there, but you can always change the channel and for the money you can't beat it...and it charges your iPod too.

My ipod...

I have the Monster. It is the third brand of FM modulaters between my wife and I. It has the strongest signal by far. My wife was driving in front of me, and tuned to my i-pod....seriously. Also, a plus that it charges your i-pod. Also, a plus that it has 3 presets if you drive out of town and your signal is already in use. If you're going that route, go w/ the Monster.

I also purchased one of the clip on the vent style holders. I actually dismantled that (did not like the big white plastic holder) and velcro'd the Ipod to the vent clip. It's the cleanest install I've seen to date. (less the cord of course) When I remove the i-pod, there is a 2x2 inch square of black velcro attached to the vent.
The cord is plugged into the power point in the center console. I just ran it along the center console where it meets the carpet. You can see it when you enter the car from the driver's side. Passengers can not see it at all. My windows are tinted, so passer-by's can not see it when parked either.

Congrats on the G & welcome.

Do you turn and look when you park it?? I still do.

There's no factory MP3 player piece to get like Acura has?

I have not purchased one yet.

But I do do the turn & look thing as well.

The car does have a tape player and the tape adapters sound alot better than the best wireless FM modulators... Otherwise you can do searches. There are ways to hardwire the ipod into the HU if you are willing to do some work.

In my case I just switched to satellite radio... I find it easier than trying to keep my mp3 collection fresh.
