System advice help please.:)

ok..so here's the deal. I'm deff getting a 4080 sub box. Now I'm in the SoCal Santa Monica area and have looked at a few audio installers but mainly payed attention to what everyone has said on here.

looks like the JL 10W3V2 sub in the 4080 box and the JL 250/1 amp and dynamat the trunk is the way to go from the sounds of everyone one here

Now I was lookin and if I spend that much...why not go for a little more right!..lol. So I'm looking at a 4 chanel amp of sometype and either MB quarts reference speakers or Boston Acoustic Pros.

Now I want to keep the factory head unit and I had "Al and Eds" audio installer say I need some type of EQ leveler to cancel out the stock bose head unit settings, while "Santa Monica Sound" told me with the amp and good crossovers there's no need for the extra money.

PLEASE GIVE SUGGESTIONS OR COMMENTS ABOUT THE COMPENENT CHOICES AND ANY INSTALLERS IF THERE WITHIN AN HOUR DRIVE. I'M LOOKING FOR A CLEAN TIGHT SOUND NOT A JUST THUMPING SOUND

THANKS EVERYONE!!!!!

Ross, congrats on getting a system. There's a lot of info here that should help you leanr what works and how ignorant the A&E installers were and how you should NOT let them work on your car.

Your "Bose" HU sends flat, unprocessed, full-range audio to the Bose amp. All the processing occurs inside the Bose amp (except for a slight auto-loudness feature at lower levels that is actually reflective of how at the lowest volumes our ears hear differently).

Many forum members have used those preamp outs to an aftermarket amplifier that accepts balanced inputs. JL amps are popular, I personally like DLS and Zapco, but it can be done if the right amp is selected.

The HOT ticket on this forum is the DLS UP6. The tweeter fits and sings, the woofer fits and rocks, do a search for UP6, read the many reviews

I would definitely recommend Jason's guys at Competition Soundworks. There are a number of forum members who have used CS and they are a skilled and reputable shop.

Also, many, MANY people on this forum prefer the Image Dynamics subs to the JL subs - I'd give them a consideration.

JL works, but tends to be overpriced IMO for the performance you get.
