He meant that you need an interface module to allow you to retain the steering wheel controls. I think you'll need the PAC SWI-X since the Kenwood site makes no mention of that head unit being "steering wheel control ready". The SWI-X is a learning module that utilizes an IR transmitter and learns functions from the Kenwood IR remote. PAC

sorry, yes i meant steering wheel inteface. that HU should have a wired remote input like the ddx-7017 so you should be able to use the one i mentioned above. I have not installed one yet so i am not 100% sure, if not just use the swi-x.

The SWI-ALP works for Kenwood head units that are steering wheel remote ready. I didn't see that feature on the spec list on the Kenwood site for the DDX-6019. Does anyone know if the unit in question has that feature?

Looks like it has the blue/yellow remote wire, you should be able to use the wired PAC

There's your answer. Good work DoG. So, I would guess the PAC SWI-ALP will work with this unit.

Yes, it has the wired remote line. Installing mine this weekend, will see how the SWI-ALP turns out

EDIT: Oops, didn't mean to sound like a broken record. Thanks, thedog. I wanted to add though, that only the newer revisions of the SWI-ALP support Kenwoods and JVCs. The old one (see pic at cardomain.com/shop) only supports Alpines.
