new kenwood ddx 6019
im really thinkign about getting this set up,i know i need a double din conversion kit and also relocate the ac controls..quick question though,if i do this install, will i still be able to use the buttons on my steering wheel to turn up the music, and turn it down and switch through tracks?
He meant that you need an interface module to allow you to retain the steering wheel controls. I think you'll need the PAC SWI-X since the Kenwood site makes no mention of that head unit being "steering wheel control ready". The SWI-X is a learning module that utilizes an IR transmitter and learns functions from the Kenwood IR remote. PAC

sorry, yes i meant steering wheel inteface. that HU should have a wired remote input like the ddx-7017 so you should be able to use the one i mentioned above. I have not installed one yet so i am not 100% sure, if not just use the swi-x.
The SWI-ALP works for Kenwood head units that are steering wheel remote ready. I didn't see that feature on the spec list on the Kenwood site for the DDX-6019. Does anyone know if the unit in question has that feature?
Looks like it has the blue/yellow remote wire, you should be able to use the wired PAC

EDIT: Oops, didn't mean to sound like a broken record. Thanks, thedog. I wanted to add though, that only the newer revisions of the SWI-ALP support Kenwoods and JVCs. The old one (see pic at cardomain.com/shop) only supports Alpines.
