Wondering Which Optima Yellow Top To Get?

I wanted to create this thread so that if anyone in the future has any questions about this, a simple search will reveal the answer.

Today I installed a 35 series Optima Yellow Top battery in my G coupe. The fit is perfect.

This model is designed for cars with layouts like my 04G, so there is no reverse post 35R model. It also comes with a spacer to raise it a little bit to be at stock height.

There was some debate in some of the threads in the past about which optima battery fits best, and I believe this 35 series is it. The swap is very straightforward and requires no additional work - undo terminal connectors, remove retainer, swap batteries, install retainer, connect terminals and you're done. you do not need to extend any cables or anything. I hope this helps others..

red top is better for cold starts under poor (very low temperature) conditions where a lot of current is required off the bat.

yellow top is better for deep cycling the battery (ex: listening to a sound system for periods of time with the car off)

The main difference is that the D35 is higher CA's and CCA's for the same price as the D51R.

Plus 10 lbs of weight - probably worth it.

The D51R has served me well - fast recharge even when drained down below 11V. Has taken repeated discharges without issues (because of mucking around with carPC).
