Momentum Performance: CMP "Test Drive" summary w/pics
Update from this weekend @ Carolina Motorsports Park.
First of all I’d like to thank our two test drivers, Chris Fields and Patrick Michaels for coming out to the track with Momentum. We enjoyed having them with us all weekend and hope they had a good time! Chris drove from Virginia Beach, and Patrick came all the way from Vegas. Again we thank them for leaving their home towns to enjoy a weekend at the track.
After some class time Chris Fields was sent out onto track with the Momentum “mule”. The car is basically a stock 350z 6mt with the Momentum turbo kit and full exhaust installed. Besides that it’s got upgraded brake pads and brake fluid. Chris beat on the car all day with no issues coming from the driver or the vehicle, and his instructor had nothing but good things to say about Chris and the car.
Our track car is much more modified, here's a quick list of the major components of the car:
• Built 3.8L Stroker, MoTeC M800 (e888 expansion module, logger dash, etc)
• Momentum Turbo kit installed
• Momentum Performance Headers
• Momentum Exhaust
• Momentum Engine and Tranny Mounts
• Cosworth Heads
• Cosworth Intake Plenum
• Carbonetics triple-disk carbon clutch
• Driveshaft Shop Axles
• StopTech 355mm two-piece drilled rotors (6 piston front, 4 piston rear)
• HRE C-90s (19x11 rear, 19x10 front)
• D2 Full Coilovers (soon to be Moton)
• Roll cage
• and much more
The track car had some issues which at first seemed to be related to the suspension, after a few different people drove the car and after some adjustments the verdict came down to the tires. Apparently the set of tires on the car were new, but had sat for too long, and they were causing the car to handle “under par” to say the least.
Since Patrick has a good amount of driving experience we sent him out in the racecar to give it a try anyway. He seemed to have a good time with the car on the track, but the handling issue was very obvious when he took the car off the track a couple times. This was related to the tire issues that we were experiencing. Ben was on and off the track with the car trying to pinpoint the problem and it seemed to always come down to the tires. A tire/wheel change made things seem promising come Sunday morning. The first session of the day the car was hooking great, it was handling and performing much better than our Saturday sessions. After some strenuous beating on the car with the infamous Bryan Settle in the seat, a mechanical failure caused it to overheat and that lead to a blown head gasket. That was the end of the day for the racecar, which was a bummer to say the least but it was something that just has to be expected when test parts at the track. Sh*t happens as they say right? Being the first time to the track with the new set up on the track car, we knew there was plenty of risk involved in allowing multiple people drive the car to its limits all weekend, but we look forward to returning to the track once some repairs and adjustments are made to the car.
The rest of the day consisted of continued sessions with the “mule,” which held up great and after the weekend of pounding on the car I drove it home with absolutely no issues at all. It did have some cooling issues at the track, in the serious summer heat, but should easily be fixed by a different radiator and cap. We will change these and head back to the track to see how she does with those mods.
We had a blast this weekend at Carolina Motorsports Park and I hope everyone else enjoyed the weekend as much as we did. Once again I’d like to thank our test drivers Chris and Patrick for pausing their busy lives to come to the track with us, we greatly appreciate it.
Here's a few pictures from the track. We've got many more of the cars on the track, just waiting for our photographer to get them to us!

Good to hear the ST on the mule did alright. If this is similar to the PL I assume 5ATs will not fit without modification (any word on if a kit will be made to correct that)? What type of EMS were you running in the mule and any dyno sheets?
I would really love to see this kit give the Powerlab a run for its money (evidently better for people like me when it is FI shopping next summer, lol ).

The kit has been installed in an auto G35 coupe, from what I recall they didn't have to make any major modifications to the kit. But I believe there was a different intake pipe used. I'll have to verify this and get back to you!
The mule is running our Uprev Osiris flash. Here's a dyno sheet (I can't recall which car it's from, but this is at spring pressure, 6psi)
