DIY: Easy&Cheap LED Side marker mode...:)
Okay.. so i try to do this mod.. and as expected.. i end up ****in up more than i fix, long story short the side markers both don't light up anymore.. im thinkin i ****ed up the fuse since the two rods touched and there was a spark and no mas light... so now i gotta not only figure out how to ****in get he led bar to stick to the oem plug in order to light up but also ... anyone know what coulda went wrong with the sidemarkers... if it is the fuse.. which kind of fuses and anyone knwo the fuse layout.. i saw the one in the fuse box door.. and it's VERY vague to say the least... HELLPP!! im freakin out!
So I received my order from superbrightleds yesterday and started on the "easy" project. There are a couple questions in this thread that haven't been answered and I will try to answer them because I was very confused too but figured it would make more sense once I had the actual parts in my hands.
When you look at the parts that came with the assembly it is quite confusing how it is going to get power from the car to the led strip. Here is what you need to do:
The led strip has two male ends and it came with one wire that has two female ends. So I took an old unused LED bulb and took the bulb out of the LED holder using two pairs of pliers. This is how I got the LED holder, but I have read that you can buy extras of these at a place like Radio Shack. I then took the wire that came with the LEDs with two female ends and cut one of the ends off. This end I stripped the wire to expose the metal. I then took those ends and fed them into the led holder and wrapped them around the LED holder just as if it were a single LED hooked up.
I then took the other end of the wire, the end that is still female, and plugged it into one end of the LED strip. Then all you need to do is test it to make sure it works, being sure that you are lining up the positive and negative connections properly. Take the LED holder that you have put the wires through and wrapped them just as if it were a single LED and plug it into the outlet where your side markers are. They should light up! (at least mine did, and I was amazed that it worked.)
Now that you know they work you just need to figure out a way to cut your clear corner in order to fit the LED strip inside and then close it all up with soem silicone.
I am not done working on mine yet because I need to get a dremel to cut my clear corners open but if people would like some pics of what I am actually talking about I will post them up.
Hope it is a little more clear now, and it actually is really easy and it going to be an awesome little mod.

i used a dremel as for linking em, couldn't find oem holders at radio shack ended up gettin a led and cut off the two prongs connected the two females and taped it up and shrink tube ftw
looks hawt.

I got these lights for sale if anyone wants them. here is the thread https://g35driver.com/forums/archived-sales/224236-fs-cool-white-6-led-light-bar-superbrightleds-com.html
OMFG I actually got it to work!!!!!!!! and I didn't blow out a fuse. The led holder thing doesn't work.
You basically have to gHetto-Rigg 2 shrink wire connectors ( one connected to each of the stripped down wires)
1.crush the ends into a size that is equal to the width of the stock LED holder.
2.Wrap both of the ends in electrical tape LEAVING only about 1/4 a inch of metal exposed.
3.Put a piece of rubber in the middle and then use electrical tape to wrap the two wires close together.
In the end you should have a kind of Ghetto looking plug that are round instead of flat.
WARNING. Use alot of Electrical tape and make sure that the positive and negative ends never meet.

I went to radio shack looking for the LED connector and found none. Also I didn't have any LED holders. I was just explaining how I was able to get around that problem using stuff i had laying around.
Instead of cutting the marker housing open with a dremmel is it possible to open the housing by heating it up(in the oven) then placing the LED inside? Then using silicone to seal the original hole up. Basically opening it up like you do with headlights.
