sway bar experts.

Ok i installed my hotchkis sways(the rear only) a month ago on medium setting. The car felt the same as it was before which was very balanced a lot of grip and bit of overstear, which i like, when u take it to the limit. Keep in mind i already had the z shocks and tein-s combo. Ok i installed the front one about 2 days ago and the handling changed completely. I changed the rear to the stiffest setting and the front to the medium. When i take it to the limit the front tires dont grip too well. It basically understeers when i push it. It feels like all the cars weight is on front tires but at the same time it understeers.

Question: Should i go med/med instead of stiff/med to see what happends?
I thought when u stiffen the rear one it should oversteer more, no?

If you like oversteer... i here to have stiff in the rear and med in front (atleast thats what Q45tech suggest) for oversteer. But thats odd that you already have that setup and you dont get any oversteer. HMMMM

Well i get oversteer when i pound on the throttle in the middle of the corner going 40MPH on second gear. But the car is not as balanced as it used to be with just one rear swaybar with medium setting. The initial response when taking a corner is a lot of grip and no body roll. But again when i push it little bit more the front tires start to make noise and it goes to understeer mode.

I had the same problem with understeering... I have the STillen sway's and i had them set at MED/MEd... It was understeering pretty bad when i took turns hard... I changed the fronts to the soft setting... And it allowed a little bit more for body roll to carry through the turn... I like how it is now... But i also have a Strut tower Brace...

So changing the rear to medium will not help? I should go with stiff rear and soft in the front?

With an upgrade like sway bars, imo, you really want spring rates to match. But I have found that bigger sways work much better with a stiffer chassis.

Either way, you're changing a set-up you liked to begin with which imo, is a big mistake already.

You might want to try putting the front sway bar to it's softest setting... and if you don't like that still, then go back to the stock front sway bar.

You can also go a half step.
eg. on the same bar (rear) use stiff on one side & medium on the other = med/stf

max oversteer bias: soft front/firm rear

max understeer bias: firm front/soft rear

If i do that will it be about 119% stiffer than stock instead of 146%. Also there won't be any issues with direction changing right?

you'll first need adjustable endlinks to do that and no, there is no directionality as to which side gets to be hooked up in the stiffer or
softer hole setting.

I'm on stock non-sport suspension. But on Hotchis and oem 19s. I intially ran soft/med. Handling was better but the front still wanted to dive a bit. So while I was changing my oil, I put my front bar on med. So at med/med, it's great. Now I haven't seriously pushed the car yet though. I guess I should take some fun runs w/o the VDC huh? But if you want to dial out some oversteer, try med/med and see how you like it. Hell, it's easy enough

Just came back from the local canyons. I changed my mind about changing the settings. The car changes directions very fast and flat. Yes at the limit it understeers a bit, but it is very predictable. The reason that the car is so twitchy at times is because i have my stock 17s on with gooyear eagle f1s. When i put back my 19s I will then think about touching the sways.

Thnx for the suggestions.

Try to change your driving style. When you pound on the throttle in the middle of the corner you unload front tires and they start to slip. Try to "gently apply the throttle". By the way you describe how car behaves at the corner entry your set up is fine.
