End of my rope

I have installed the 350Evo sways and the GT spec bars. All was good until a clunking sound began on the drivers side. I have checked all of the bolts (sway bar brackets, front GT spec bar, sway bar endlinks) and they were all fine and tight. Any other ideas? The endlinks are still there and I can't see any obvious wear on any part of the suspension. Sigh.....

What bushings are you using with the front 350Evo bar?

The ones they provided - urethane. I greased them heavily. At first I forgot to grease the front and they squeaked like a rock buggy. I greased them and all fantastic. A day later, the knocking appeared.

Im was running all stock and had the same noise. Still not fixed. Just got S-techs installed about an hour ago, so maybe they will go away.

Well I checked again with the wheels removed and the weight off the suspension. The drivers sway endlink was loose. Put the G back together and the noise is gone.

^^^Do you get the clunking noise when you go over bumps?

That would have been my first thought, glad you found it.

I think the site should provide key people with a beeper/cell phone to be on 24 hour alert; namely you for the suspension forum.

I'm suprised by how the sways improve the drive. A stiffer sway should be included with the sport tuned suspension. An ever so slight oversteer. I love it.

LOL!, not enough time in the day for that.

Your 05 car does have stiffer sway's vs 03/04 car's, though I am throughly convinced that it's a 17% stiffer front bar only. Would be very interesting if you happened to have a tire temp guage and were to look at your tire temps across the tread at all 4 after some run's.

I don't have a temp guage, but I can get one. Where do you recommend? BTW, how is a sway bar tested for stiffness? I have the OE's in my shed.

Either this one

http://www.spectorracing.com/catalog...ahrenheit.html

Or this one

http://www.spectorracing.com/catalog...Pyrometer.html

Both unit's are probe type units vs laser type units which can only measure surface temps.

The reason behind even mentioning the more expensive unit lies in the nature of taking tire temps. It's not that the cheaper unit can't get the temps, it's just that you have to have write down all 3 temp readings per tire, taking extra time all the while the untested tires are cooling.

Of course the whole idea behind taking temps to to verfiy your setup and to be willing to make changes to get the temp spreads right. Afterall what may "feel" like a balanced setup may in fact be just good balance on a very narrow section of the tire's contact patch. Get more of the tires surface involved in grip (more evenness on all 3 temps) equals better times. Providing you didn't effect braking too much.

Here's a pretty good thread on the topic

I still don't have one myself, but I'm getting to the point where I really need to get one.

I know their is a math forumula to calculate sway bar stiffness, which I honestly do not know. When I say +17% it comes from someone else having compared the weight of a 03 Z front bar and the front bar off of a 04.5+ Z and figuring out that because of the outside diameter's are the same but the 04.5+ front bar weighs more that the 04.5+ front bar has thicker wall's. I believe that the front bar on the 05-06 sedan and 05-06 coupe sport suspension is the same bar as the 04.5+ Z suspension.

$94 is more to my budget (actually, it will pass the wife test with much less effort ).

My track trailer is nearly done and I'm beginning to get my track dedicated tools together too. The tire temp gauge was not on list (just the laser temp guage for caliper and rotor temps) but is now.
