Tein Flex with original JDM spec springs 560lbs

Is anyone running the Tein Flex with the JDM spec 560 lb springs (in the US they come stock with 670 lb springs)? I am about to order them and it will take 2-3 months to get them. Just wondering what the ride is like.

If anyone else wants to get in on the order the price is $80 for the rear pair and $75 for the front pair.

PM THX723... he has the Tein Flex with custom spring rates. Not sure if they're 10/10 but he sure knows what hes talking about and he'll give you good info.

Huh? On one hand I read that your going to order JDM Tein flex Z33/CPV35/V5 coilovers with 560lbs spring rates, which will of course be valved to match those rates identically.

And then you talk about ordering the springs alone, which would be used to bring down USDM Tein flex's down to 560lbs. Which are valved for 672lbs rates, but according to Tein can run 560lbs rate fine.

So what are you actually planning on doing? JDM w/560lbs rates or USDM flex and add 560lbs springs?

Jim, if the JDM Flex dampers are valved softer than their US counterparts, does that mean the JDM version can go down to 9 kg or 8kg springs?

Tein USA told me that the Tein flex can go +/- 2 kg/mm on the spring rates from the stock 12kg/mm springs before needing to be revalved. 10 kg/mm is -2 from stock, so I am fine. There it is. Call them and find out for yourself @ 562-861-9161.
Try reading his post again and you'll see you are barking up the wrong tree. He knows that USDM Flex shocks can go +/- 2 kg/mm. He's talked to Tein techs directly on this issue. The only thing he was doing was just asking you if you were buying the USDM Flex shocks and then putting on 10kg/mm springs or if you were buying the whole JDM Flex versionwhich includes softer valved shocks and the 10kg/mm springs. The key there is the JDM version has softer valved shocks compared to the USDM version.

Derres I've been wanting to go down to 10kg springs on the flex for some time now. Everytime I was about to order them, the weather would change and the flex felt less bumpy. Are you making the change in hope of a smoother street ride?

Lol, I was the one that turned them on to the fact that the JDM flex didn't change it's spring rates, it only changed to the same CS upper mount system. Their was this pause as they looked it up online on their site in Japan, "oh yeah your right". Though these are the same guys that promised me the SS was on a car at their office being R&D for release here, called back some time latter, "who told you that?, no SS or devolopement car" Though they are really nice helpfull people.

I've got one instance where corporate experts got it wrong, at my expense. Gordon and Lee Grimes at Koni assured me the Z33 Koni sport shocks had a high rebound control range where they have run with 625lbs front spring rates and that my choice of 504lbs rates would be well within their limits with plenty of reserve left over. I actually went with 448lbs and I have to run the rebound all the way up with only a 1/4 turn of control left, no way I can go any higher without a revalve. Which is why I'm ponderng TcKline's.

I have ordered the 10Kg/mm (560 lb) springs for the Flex coilovers that I have. My intent is to create a more liveable street ride, as I know that the 12Kg/mm (672 lb) springs are just too stiff for anything but an all out race car, IMO.

Tein has informed me that I am safe in changing over to the 10kg/mm springs. i am not the first person to do this, as THX723 has done the same thing. Will post a review in 2-3 months when the new 10kg/mmm springs get here from Japan. It is very likely that I will not be able to wait, and will probably install the coilovers with the 12kg/mm springs so that I can baseline the comparison.

I noticed in your past posts that you've been looking for used Flex coilovers, did you already purchase? Reason I posted in the first place was to point out to you that their's going to be a differance between dropping the spring rates to 560lbs vs getting the whole JDM flex setup.

I'm aware of what Clint is running and why, though I could not recall what he settled on.

Did you try www.japanparts.com? they might be able to get you those
sooner. i think TEIN offering different spring rates is a great idea
for their damp adjustable coilover kits.

Yeah, I picked up a set of used USDM Tein Flex and I plan to put the 10kg/mm springs on when they arrive.
