350Z h-tech camber issues
350Z h-tech camber issues
After countless hours of research on this site, I've decided to have installed the 350Z h-techs on my coupe to avoid having to get a camber kit. Its been about a month, me waiting for them to settle before getting an alignment. Just got back from the shop and they're telling me I have camber issues in the rear and need a kit or risk losing 25% to as much as 50% of the tire life. Is this true? If so, there's some serious inconsistencies with the camber results of these H-techs on our G coupes. What's up with that??? My toes are fine however camber results are -2.77(left) and -2.98(right). I have 285-30-20 tires on a 20x10 wheel at 25mm offset; thats going from the factory 18s. Does that have something to do with my problem? Whats even more confusing is looking at the wheel gap in the rear, looks as if the car wasnt even dropped to cause this problem.
upsizing your wheels will usually cause your factory settings to be thrown off, depending on the difference. I went from 17s to 19s and I ended up with similar numbers. Back then i was not as informed and when i switched to new wheels i saw the inner tire wear, my tires were already showing the stuff underneath the rubber, they could have exploded soon i guess. I ended up redoing my entire suspension. coilovers, spc toe kit and waiting for the spc front kit. It will save your tires. Not sure if it will cause you to loose 50% life but it will definitely decrease it.
Now on the H-techs, were those done on cars with factory wheels still on them?

I take everything back people. That's why a second opinion is always needed when you get bad news for an answer. Not having to buy a camber kit, I was able to get my camber issues resolved. Now my wheels sit at -1.7 and -2.0 just like Crazy Mike suggested. 350Z H-techs are the best in that it's all you need (no camber kit, no shocks, no sway bars) and the ride feels the same as stock just a little tighter around corners (a good thing).
Do you have before and after pics of the drop? Are you satisfied with how much difference it made aesthetically?
Oh, and where would you recommend I pick up a set of these? Thanks in advance.

I am personally satisfied with the drop. Looks a lot better than stock height. You can pick them up a number of places, try some of the site sponsors...or other members. I got mine at Gruppe-S in Hayward for $190. Not the cheapest place to get them, but they did a good job on the install and for only $75.
