when to change brake pads(brembos)
#16
I have just turned 55K and had 4 new Michelins installed at NTB and inspected the pads myself... It looks like there is at least 30% left so I will order some pads and rotors soon, but I am in no rush to change them, they really look pretty good for all the miles.
04.5 6MT, TB\Graphite Prem pack, aero kit... At 55K, running better than ever!

I heard squeaking often at low speeds, and I checked the pads when I was changing the rims, and the pads had about 50% of the meat still left. The rears had little less than the fronts. Looks like I'll be changing the rears before my fronts. I need to check up on them again, as few months have already passed.

On mine ('03 6MT) the inner rear pads wore down the quickest. There have been several other folks on this board who reported the same thing. Note that there are no squeel indicators on the inner pads, only on the outer pads.
I changed my rear pads at somewhere around 35K. Fronts still good (at about 37K now).
Practical advice - at 30k it makes sense to pull the wheels (or have someone else pull the wheels) to check wear on both inner and outer pads, front and back.

Yeah, I check em every 6-10K miles when I change the rear tires... I have em pull the fronts and balance then check everything when wheels are off... NTB lets you back in the shop area with no complaints.

rule of thumb, if you look at your pad lining and see that the thickness is about the thickness of a coin, its pretty much time to change. best thing to do is measure with a ruler and check for minimum spec.
