Parking Brake Creaking?

Hi guys, anyone experience this? When I get into or out of the car with the parking brake applied, it lets out a big "creeeaaaakk". When it is not applied, the car is totally silent. Any thoughts are appreciated.

I think mine's done that since day one. Isn't it just the weight shifting around as you get out of the car?

Does it tend to be louder when parked on an incline?

^ werd, I think thats exactly it. I wouldn't worry about it.

When I'm on an incline I always park it in gear also, just incase.

That's it! . . . When my car is parked with the parking brake engaged and I am shifting my weight, as I get out of and get into the car. I never gave it much thought when it made the creaking noise.

or you could have new rear rotors. the surface friction is a little different than the old rotors, so you could get that "brand new" creek.

actually I thought it might have been my old rotors so I replaced them. they were 3 years old when I swaped them out. the creak is still there. do you guys think it may be the parking brake that needs to be tightened? it doesn't make a difference whether I am parked on a hill or not. it is always when I am getting into or out of the car when the parking brake is on.

hmmmm.....well, when you lift up on the parking brake handle, have you noticed it getting higher as the days pass. it's been almost three years for me, but the parking brake handle height has always been the same, and i have only noticed the creaking noise when i changed my rotors and use the parking brake to stop (from about 2-3mph to full stop....i get lazy )

or, i noticed on your write-up for the rotor change-out that you used some brake cleaner on your parking brakes. i did not....so maybe that's the problem.
