As a Zeal dealer and veteran of their products here is my take.

The quality is very good, definitely superb to the mass produced products such as Tein, Tanabe, and so on.

The drawback to their products is that they are priced a little high. You can choose the spring rate that you'd like and they'll valve it to those rates but you're not really getting too much in terms of technical support.

If you are looking for a coilover of that caliber I recommend the Top Secret tuned Aragosta Dampers.
http://www.topsecretjpn.com/coilovers.shtml

Basically you let us know what kind of driving you'll be doing and how you want it to feel and then Top Secret will valve the dampers to your specs along with mating them with Swift springs.

The list price there is a little misleading also, I offer that as the EMS from Japan price so that you don't have to wait as long as you would if it came via ocean freight. Subtract $500 if you want it to come by ocean.

Both setups are expensive, both are made to order. Zeals that I've driven on have always been a little on the stiff side even in street form. Top Secret setups for street are soft for bumps yet firm for stability.

my $0.02

excellent info! Yeah, I know they're not gonna be cheap but you get what you pay for, right? I'm going to take a look at the Top Secret stuff and when I'm ready to pull the trigger I'll keep ya in mind.

thanks!

Ofcourse... but if he's spending $7500 on coilovers for a trackcar it probably means he's pretty serious and there are a million cars better suited for track work than the G so I would be willing to guess that isn't the case.

Hey maybe I'm wrong, maybe I'm the one with the small ***** Just having some fun at the expense of some guy who spent $7500 on coilovers just so he can say he has em.

Well he ain't a normal person with a G is he. He doesn't even have a G it's a Z lol.

aHero4Eternity - Hey take it easy buddy read what I posted before. Also drifting isn't really racing, it's showing off. Racing doesn't require judges, just lap times. But god damn is it cool

That is freaking sweet though. It's all about what you appreciate. I think pics of people racing side-by-side is amazing and just as fun.

That line is completely inaccurate. All ZEAL coilovers are 100% servicable in the United States. Endless USA in Huntington Beach can service all big brake kits and coilovers IN HOUSE. For technical support, contact any one of their authorized dealers, they will have plenty of technical data and will be able to answer any questions you have. There are plenty of authorized dealers in the states and if you dont feel confident with that, you can contact Endless USA yourself. As for the price being too high? Well you gotta pay to play, Im sure the Top Secret Aragosta suspension isnt any cheaper than the ZEAL's.

The guy that supposedly paid $7500 (I know for a fact he didnt) for the ZEAL coilovers is Brian Wong and he installed the ZEAL Super Function R's which are prototypes for the Z33, as a matter of fact I helped him install it. ZEAL does not even make an application on the Super Function R's for the Z or the G and the Super Function R's also come equipped with Swift springs. Theres no doubt that the Aragosta coilovers for the Z/G is top notch even though there are no public specs on them but I am sure that they dont have remote reservoirs like the Super Function R's. Also with ZEALS, you have the option of running your rear suspension as a true coilover or like the stock form of having the dampers and springs seperate.

For your price of $4200 for Top Secret Aragosta coilovers, Im sure they are comparable to the ZEAL Function X which Im sure you can still get cheaper than the Aragosta. Im in no way bashing on the Aragosta kit cause Im sure they are great coilovers but I think ZEAL's deserve credit where its due and people need to know the real info.

As far as experience with ZEAL coilovers, I have the Function V6 which is now discontinued. My Function V6 is definitely one of a kind though, not like any other one out there, 16KG/12KG spring rates with true rear coilover which was not offered with this coilover. Seeing as I go to the track often, I prefered springs this high. The car definitely does not feel like it would have spring rates this high but that is what is most impressive, the valving on the dampers match perfectly with the rates. Yes they are a bit stiff and a lot of you may not like the ride quality, it is a bit noisy from the rear due the true coilover setup but I wouldnt trade my coilovers for anything else, unless it was for some Ohlins. If you are looking for comfort out of a ZEAL coilover, the best route is to go with the Function Xs. You can contact Performance Nissan, theyre direct with Endless/ZEAL.

I think you took what I said a little wrong. The technical support that I am referring to is setups for various vehicles based upon your feedback as to what you are looking for. I consider the Zeals to be an excellent off the shelf coilover, but you cannot buy a set of Zeal Xs and expect them to be built exactly to what you want or hand valved by someone who is going off of a spec sheet supplied to them for your needs.

The super functions are amazing as are the X and XS, they are a high quality product meant for people looking for the best for their dollar. But it comes down to the individual needs of each person as to what works best.
