brakes wearing, need replacement - what did you do?

I've got ~16k miles on the brakes that came with the car and am getting some squealing . What did everyone do to change their brakes? Dealership or DIY? Just pads or rotors as well?

I've got a 2005 w/ the non-Brembos. I also don't have an interest in a BBK upgrade because this is just a daily driver.

got mine changed under warranty at 30K (pads & rotor). Your 05 does not have brake warranty.

Now I am running PMU front/OEM rear. I did the install myself. Easy DIY

How do I know whether to change the rotors as well or just the pads? Do the rotors get turned if I keep the ones I have?

Sorry for the noob questions..first car trying to DIY as much as possible .

you could take off the wheel and just check the wear on the pad.

as far as rotors getting turned, i dont think you need that this early in the game

Rotor can warp or just get uneven pad deposits in 5,000 miles you never know unless you measure the rotor runout...........spec <0.0028".

Turn your rotors if you get new pads.

If you want someone to take a look at them for you, to even see if you need new pads or not yet, I can do it for you. 16k is pretty early to be done with pads.

I need to replace my pads also. I'm at 2mm front and 3mm rear remaining with the original 2003 Brembo brakes and just under 40,000 miles.

However, I went to the dealer and they are quoting me $1050 for replacement pads and for just *resurfacing* the rotors.

From what I can find, I can get a 2 sets of Hawk pads for under $200. So are they charging me $800 in labor to install and resurface? When comparing the prices of rotors, I could have pads AND rotors replaced for about $1050...

Also, it was intersting to hear from TireRack.com that I only have Brembo calipers with generic pads and rotors. I thought we had Brembo pads...anyone else already know this?

I have the same brake pad (Project Mu NS/OEM) set up on my 03.5 sedan...I like the stopping power and minimal dusting. And yes, very easy to do...

I actually have the PMU b-force. I bet they dust more than the NS.
