Exclamation WARNING on persistent Brembo brake squeal/rattle

I have a 03 coupe with 30,000 miles on it. The factory Brembo brakes having be squealing really badly the last 3 months or so. They would squeal very badly at low speed, sometimes without even brakes being applied. They also squeal when I am driving around 30-40mph with the windows down without applying the brake. Squeal got worse when I turn the steering wheel slightly to the left. I became very concerned, because my brakes squealed before, but never like this.

I brought my car into the dealership for brake inspections on several occasions and were told each time that it was simply the nature of Brembo brakes. I recently spent $500 to have my 30k done and they repeated that my front brakes had 35% left and rear 70%.

I was getting very skeptical.

If it sounds like your brakes are gone, and it's squealing like there is no tomorrow - TAKE OFF YOUR WHEELS AND INSPECT BOTH OF YOUR BRAKE PADS!!!

On my factory Brembo brakes, what I discovered tonight was shocking:
My outside brake pad still had about 1/2 life left on them, however the inside brake pad was COMPLETELY GONE! Down to the metal, the wear warning pin had long since fell off. I couldn't believe it!!!!

So for the last few months I've been grinding my rotors with raw metal while my dealership has been giving me green lights on them.

So guys, if you have persistent brake squeals, take some time to check the brake pad wear on the inner side of the brake calipers. You can do this by either taking off the wheels and look, or look from underneath the car when it's on a stand.

Now I am crossing my finders praying my rotors aren't completely messed up. If they are, I'm taking this to my service manager and demand a replacement.

For those of you who need to do a brake replacement, here is a very nice DIY:

Drive safe and enjoy your rides.

That sucks man. Defintely get some free replacement rotors from the dealer. Sometimes you wonder if they really do all the checks and inspections they say they do.

I had the same problem with my rear brakes. Outside pads looked fine but the inside ones were completely gone. Infiniti definitely needs to start checking the inside pads before they give a go ahead on pad life.

I just replaced my front brake pads tonight with some Hawk HPS~

The hardest part was to get the wheels back on the hub. lol~ Changing the brake pad was actually not as hard as I once thought. I kept the factory Brembo squeal- prof plate and installed it behind the Hawks. No squeals so far and brake feel is quite good.

As suspected my front driver side rotor is pretty shot up, there is a rough patch right near the center where the pad had worn through to the metal. I'll call up my dealership and see whether or not they would replace my rotors since I've complained about brake noise for a year and half.... Luckily the passenger side was still ok.

We'll see what happens.
