yep left the 06 g coupe at the dealer today to get a new passenger side wheelbearing put in tommorow! I had bad vibration in the front end of the car< they did a allignment and balancing and still it was there. thought it was the tires so we put another set of 19" on the front and still we had vibration. So now they tell me a wheel bearing is causing it! we will see tomorrow i guess, thank god its not my tires

 

Is your car 6MT? What does the bearing sound like? I've always had axel problems and can define them very quickly but never a bearing problem. Is something you feel in the shifter or steering wheel?

no its a auto, and u feel it in the floor not in the wheel at all! its just a simple vibration that feels and sounds like the tires but its not!

 

Hmmmm maybe I might have to get mine checked out as well because I notice on occasion that when I leave my car in gear and I just let the RPMS die downw with no gas I get a slight vibration that I can feel through the shifter but I can also here the vibrating as well but it is not constant.

 

A dry wheel bearing can produce a significant amount of noise/vibration.

The noise usually goes away under braking....that is always a dead give away it the bearing....

They may have put too much load on the bearing at the factory....

To verify bearing failure, while driving at about 25-30MPH, make hard turn in the opposite direction of the suspect bearing. In your case it would be hard left turn. The noise level would increase if your right side bearing is failing. Defective bearings will always make a type of low tone rumbling noise. If you have vibration without noise, or noise is constant while making turns, then it's not a bearing. Causes of vibration are wheel balancing, defective tire, bent rim, worn tie rod ends, worn ball joints, broken suspension components and even drive shaft/universal joints. You may want to check those out.

 

That sucks are they replacing it under warranty

 

A loose or worn tie rod end will cause a feathered wear pattern on the front tires. Raising the front of the car off the ground and rocking the front wheel back and forth can detect worn tie rod ends.

If there is any free play, it probably means the tie rod ends are bad. The front alignment must be done once the new tie rods ends have been replaced.

The Infiniti tie rod is a single unit that typically has a tie rod end on both ends. The Infiniti tie rod is used to connect the steering rack with the front wheel hub and has a threaded adjusting sleeve, which allows the length of the tie rod to be adjustable. This adjustment is used to set a vehicles alignment for toe.

A worn Infiniti tie rod end or tie rod can cause the car or truck to wander, have erratic steering, and cause excessive tire wear.

wheel bearing done and the vibration is GONE!!!!!!!!! thank f-ing god! I thought this woulda been a nightmare trying to find the vibration

Same thing just happened with my '04. I diagnosed it today with someone from the dealer and its there now getting repaired. It is the same wheel bearing that you had go bad on yours. Luckily, I'm still under Warranty too! All of the posts here are right on, as the sound went away with breaking and increased with left steering wheel movements while the car was in motion.

 

This is the first time on all the forums I have heard any mention of wheel bearings. The problem is that on our Coupes, there is so much going on with the tire noise, it's hard to distinguish any other problems that might be there. I assume the vibration defines this problem.
