It’s almost time for me to replace my rotors and pads, the back will be the first to go. Since I have no clue what will work best on my car without spending to much money I have several questions.

1. If I will take it to regular brake shop for example brakes plus how good the rotors and the pads will be? Will it be similar or better then the stock?
2. If I decide to do it by myself how difficult will it be to replace the brakes on the back and front? Any place to find diy detail instructions?
3. Since you can’t “turn” or resurface the drilled or slotted rotors what will you do when it’s time to replace the pads, do you need to change the rotors also?
4. If I decide to go with drilled or slotted rotors what rotors and pads do you recommend?
5. If I decide to go with regular rotor what rotors and pads do you recommend?

 

The DIY is very easy, but make sure you know what you're doing.

The quality of parts that you're going to get from a brake shop could vary widely, just depends on where the shop sources its parts. Most will install parts you bring in.

As for my part recommendations, I recommend Hawk HPS pads and the plain (not slotted or drilled) OEM replacement rotor manufactured by Brembo and sold at the Tire Rack. These are very high quality replacement parts and reasonably priced.

 

not sure what you're looking to spend, but when i did mine, i stayed with EOM parts and bought a set of front rotors and brake pads for about $200 online. Did the work along with my brother in about an hour or so.

is about a 20 minute per wheel job
total it should take you is about an hour with taking off and putting back on the wheel
its simple
you have to remove total of 4 bolts per wheel

 

oh and you'll need a C-clamp

 

im an outside sales rep for an undercar warehouse in monterey ca, and one of my distributors is sending me the new Monroe friction all around as a promotion and also gonna be trying out the slotted Centric rotors. it's the first time im gonna be using something other than what the dealer installs so we'll check it out.

 

I would consider the Racing Brake oem rotors or oversized rotors and caliper brackets with Hawk HPS pads. Great deal for the price.

 

My guess the replacement on the front is easy but what about the back? Do you need to do anything for the e-brake? Except changing the rotors and the pads do you need to change anything else?

 

did anyone try the R1Concepts rotors and pads?
