Brakes Brakes on 04 infinti G35 sedan

This is I m sure this is old news to everyone. I was hoping someone can help me with this. I have about 60000 miles on my car and have replaced brakes about 4 times. The first three times it was covered by the dealer. I last put brake pads on my car last October and am looking at new brakes already.

I don't know if I should infiniti brakes again. Has anyone else had better luck with other brakes? I am thinking there has to be some other brakes out there that will last much longer than this. Infiniti brakes also puts a lot of dust on the wheels. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

Go with good aftermarket pads. I switched mine to PBR and they barely, barely dust at all. Much, much better. And they grab just as well.

As long as you use the oem replacement pads, you will get great peformance but at the expense of pad life and severe dusting.

Short of going to the bigger 05 brakes or a full out bbk, you should search for aftermarket brake pad choices.

+1 on new pads. I don't have the 03 pads anymore, but I remember how quickly they got dirty.

If the short life is your major problem just get some other pads. I have had Hawk HPS pads since my BBK and been very happy.

If I were to replace the infiniti brake pads with Hawk HPS or any other ones, do I also need to replace the rotors? I am hoping I can just replace the pads. I am kind of looking for both lifetime of brake pads and performance as well. I also realize buying from dealer is lot more expensive than after market.

How does hawk hps compare to oem as far as performance goes?

I run on um-project pads. Much better than stocks.

Are you referring to street performance or track? For the street, it'll be tough to find a pad that has that initial bite like the stock pads. But like you mentioned, the downside to the stock 03/04 pads are the life and the dust.

Can't speak for Hawk pads but I've had PBR/Axxis Ultimate pads on my previous car and I liked those pads in terms of stopping power and feel. Unlike one of the previous poster's experience, from what I remember, the PBR/Axxis Ultimate pads dusted quite a bit too.

In regards to the rotors, I've always felt that you should either get them resurfaced or replaced when you get new pads. I could be wrong though. I'd at least look at your old pads when you take them out. If the pads are worn down at an angle, like not consistently worn throughout the contact area of the pad, I'd consider doing something about your rotors as well, but thats just me.
