My car is missing a "brake hardware kit"

Can someone tell me what exactly a brake hardware kit is? Long story short, I had my brakes serviced (pads and rotors) at a local good year shop (since the nearest Infiniti dealership is 100+ miles away).

Anyways, I've been getting a lot of brake noise so I decided I would go straight to Infiniti. They said you need to back to Good year and have them install a "brake hardware kit", something of which wasn't installed according to Infiniti. The quick explanation from the Inifiniti service guy was that it's a spring and some other parts.....

So can anyone tell me what it is?

Noise and thermal insulation shim plates plus end clips that hold pads in place.

Shops [ill trained minimum wage] throw them away since they don't fit properly on their copy cat kinda fit pads.

Wow, thanks for the explanation. Nose and thermal.....guess that explains the brake noise and excessive wear that had rotors machined after only 3000 miles.

Brake noise [squeel and groan] is caused by pads vibrating in caliper and modes of rotor vibration.

Brake pads are tested in oem assembly then shims selected to minimize noise.
