What Shocks/strut should I use /w my Eibach pro-kit?

Thought I would post this find; after doing some research on different lowering setups, for a few weeks. It seemed like the answers I found were all from current user experience, and most everybody was also upgrading their stock shocks too.

i have tokico d-specs.. i love them.. my car feels sooooo much better. i have mine at the stiffest settings all around.. its a rough ride but i like it that way. however, if you turn it down 2 levels from stiffest. you get yourself a nice comfortable ride for those long trips.

sorry for the noob suspension question, but when/why is it necessary to change your shocks with new springs?...for example i have an 06 6mt (sport tuned suspension) and am considering tanabe df210's, will i need new shocks??

from my understanding, your stock ones will eventually go bad with different springs.

even if the springs you are switching to have a softer spring rate...i thought it was mainly if you switched to a stiffer spring...also, how much quicker can you expect the struts to go bad?

Your oem springs are
314/427

NF210''s are
308/353

It would seem on the surface that every thing's great since the springs are softer then oem and the shock's shouldn't be seeing any added stress or give out a underdampned bit of ride and drive quality where motion's aren't properly controlled because you have too much spring and not enough shock. HOWEVER, where is the added spring stiffness to make up for the loss of what 1.7" of suspension travel or shock piston stroke? That's an awful lot of drop and to do it with less spring stiffness is an invitation for the shocks to be tapping on the bump stops a whole lot, which many misinterpret as this wonderful amount of stiffness they get while corning, it's a very bad thing to have going on. IMO, make a different spring choice that gives more spring rate to help keep you off the bump stops, though honestly that much drop is better done with coilovers.

Since your dropped 1.1" vs oem I would go with the DSP-7 D-spec ment for the 350Z and take advantage of the shorter rear shocks that setup has vs the DSP-9. Looking at the spec's for your springs I would not do Koni sports just to say it.
