Suggestions for upgrade 03 sedan brakes

Does anyone have any suggestions for upgrading the brakes on an 03 G35 sedan? I'm tired of the frequent visits to the shop to replace rotors and pads.

ArizonaZCar BBK. See my sticky in the brake&suspension sub-form on the install of the 6 piston Wilwood calipers and 13 in rotors.

My service guy suggested Stillen as replacement pads. I will try these next time I need pads.

get the brakes off a later model sedan - they use 2 piston calipers and a bigger rotor; dont use the OE pads - instead use Mintex Red Box, EBC, or Hawk

if you want aftermarket upgrades without going poor, try here: http://racingbrake.com

if you have a zero-balance credit card - try this: http://stoptech.com or go to the brake section here: http://mynismo.com

I recommend Hawk HPS pads. I run them on my 2004 sedan. Braking is excellent, virtually no dust. I had the dealer replace pads/rotors the first time but they kept dusting. The second time I used the Hawk pads with the stock rotors and am very pleased.

I have not had the issues others have with lack of braking when they are cold or wet.

how to upgrade your brakes?

jump in a honda accord, or nissan maxima before you splurge

i'm very happy with my brakes (03-04). the 05-06 brakes actually have less stopping power.

I have hawk ceremic pads and the stillen brake master stiffener...very nice!

That definitely wouldn't be a bad set up. I am currently running the Racing Brake OE BBK, front and rear, with Hawk pads. Definite improvement. I will be going to stainless lines this fall, and possibly the 4 piston calipers. The advantage here is you can get the OE BBK, and upgrade the calipers later if you want. Racing Brake also offers 6 piston front, and 2 or 4 piston rears.

My performance shop told me to use Hawk pads and stainless steel brake lines with the stock rotor for my 06 sedan.

Remember that stainless/braided lines only improve brake feel, not performance.

Also, performance brakes wear out quicker, just like performance tires. That's the nature of the beast. BMWs, Benz's, Vette's, Evo's, STI's, etc go through brakes quickly too.

If you don't want to spend the money for Nissan rotors, you can buy Brembo blank rotors for about 2/3rd's the cost.

I hate to steer business away from Dave at Arizona Z, but Todd at TCE Performance Products was able to give me a much better deal on a 14" 6-pot front and 13" 4-pot rear Wilwood BBK. The rears use steel rotor hats instead of aluminum, but you don't lose the parking brake, so that is another good reason to consider TCE. These are Wilwood factory kits, as well.
I suggest anybody in the market for a BBK give Todd a call before the summer pricing runs out at the end of the month; my complete upgrade cost less than what many places charge just for fronts, and included stainless lines and fluid.
