Newbie: Springs or Coilovers?

Just got a 2003 G35 coupe. Its stock and I like to setup the suspension before I do anything with performance.

I used to have an Acura TSX and it was said that that if i got springs, the struts would eventually give out and I would have to replace them, so it was worthwhile to just get coilovers. I'm curious, is the G35's the same way. The car has about 30G mileage and if I just installed aftermarket springs on stock struts, how long will my struts last, or would they eventually give out?

Also, do I need a camber kit?

What springs do you guys recommend for a nice drop (1.5" drop) that will not make the ride toooo bouncy? Thanks for all the help in advance!

Yes I did. Just searching I think I might go with the Tein Basics with SPC camber kits.

Will I need the camber kit for the front though?

need a camber kit? eh.

depends how low you drop the car....

but since the front isn't adjustable, as long as you drop it..you wont be as close to factory specs...

most live without a front kit, tho. then again, most aren't that far outta spec in front.

go with coils if you like the flexibility of adjusting your ride height. if you're pretty set on how low you wana go, then you can get springs...but if it were me i would still stick with the coils since once you go rims or a kit, you might want to play around with your ride height...

Aren't the basics not adjustable? I thought the basics are a set height.

Thanks for all the info.

huh? that's the point of getting coils.

they are height adjustable only. you can't change the damping settings, however.

that's right.

Where are some legit sites to buy aftermarket parts for the G35?

Is it safe to drive on aftermarket springs on stock shocks for a long period of time. Say over, 50,000+ mileage?

Wouldn't the car begin to sag or would the stock shocks eventually give out?

I was looking up the specs on the Basics on the Tein website and had a question, when they say:

FRONT
Height Adjust Range
Max/Min(mm/inch)
-40.0 / -1.57 to -93.1 / -3.67

REAR
Height Adjust Range
Max/Min(mm/inch)
-1.0 / -0.04 to -35.9 / -1.41

Does this mean the front will be dropped at least 1.57 inch so you can't just do a drop of an inch with the basics?

http://www.tein.com/infiniti.html

Looking at the site, I get

Front/Rear recommended
1.5"/.9"

Front/rear max drop (should be the minimum amount of preload)
2.6"/1.2"

Front/Rear min drop (requires a lot of front spring preload)
.7"/+.2"
