G suspension compared to Z suspension
G suspension compared to Z suspension
Hello,
Last month I got pretty bad back injury and as a result I would like to improve the ride quality of my Z. I tried searching but perhaps I am not using the correct terminology: How do G springs/shocks compare to the Z? I observed that some G35 owners swap their suspension for the Z parts, suggesting perhaps that Z springs offer better handling/firmer ride? Thank you for any insight into this.

I've managed to dig this up:
2003/2004 350Z oem spring rates 314/342
2004.5/2005 350Z oem spring rates 314/427*
All roadster production 314/427
All G35 coupes equipped with oem 17's or 18's regardless of build year spring rates
314/342
All G35 coupes equipped with oem 19's (2005's with oem 19's)
314/342
G35 sedan with optional sport suspension or where standard (6MT's) spring rates 314/342
G35 sedan non sport spring rates 283/308
*rear rate increase support's the contention that the 2004.5/2005 350Z's feature a stiffer front oem sway bar.
Based on this information, the g35 non-sport sedan springs would be most comfortable. But what would happen to the ride height?

Thanx for pointing me in the right direction. I honestly don't know how I missed this, I've been searching all day. From the info I gather the ride height would increase 1" but hopefully result in a smoother ride? Chronic backpain sucks guys, but I like the Z too much to get rid of it...

Go to post number33 I list two G35 coupe springs that IMO would be comfort choices for a 350Z owner. HOWEVER,..... if you have 03/04 oem shocks, you will want to pull them and replace them with either 05-07 oem shocks or invest in aftermarkets like Tokico HP or D-specs (might be the best choice so you can dial them down).
On the whole for several reason's do not bother with oem G35 suspension setups to accomplish what your after.
