when do you need to replace your shocks?

Question when do you need to replace your shocks?

noob suspension question:

how do you know your shocks need to be changed?

btw, i have Z tein H-techs on my coupe, but i cut about 3/4 coil in my rear.

Look at the Sturt and see if there's leakage. Where it compress.

Hmm isn't most shocks these days gas? I am almost positive it is.

They should be MacPerson struts and not shock absorbers. How long MacPherson struts last depends a great deal on if the roads you drive on are in decent shape, or not. Generally, about 50,000 miles is when the high quality O.E., (original equipment). MacPherson struts start to signs of degredation, i.e. failed a bounce test and/or visible oil leakage down the strut tube.

Gas charged, with Nitorgen gas. This doesn't take the place of the oil inside the MacPherson strut, it is just a small shot of Nitrogen gas pumped inside the strut to help prevent aeration of the oil inside the strut and consequent degradation of handling and ride.

--I Agree--you'll definetly notice a difference in ride quality when they need to be replaced.

i think your shocks go bad when you hear like a sqeaking noise over little bumps..not sure

That might be bushings.

FYI - The G35 uses a coilover shock absorber design, along with an upper a-arm and lower control arm, not a MacPherson strut. BMW's and Porsches use them, but not this car.
