some questions b4 i mount my winter tire setup
Hey guys,
i guess this is my first post. Great forum btw.
Anyway I recently picked up a g35 coupe (06) with the 19" rims. They came with a new set of potenza all seasons. After Reading a bit on here and thinking, I decided to go and grab a set of 17's with blizzak lm22's mounted. I got a really good deal on them and figured why not.
Anyway the tires are already mounted to the wheels, and balanced (so the seller told me). I have been thinking of just mounting these wheels myself... I know my craftsman jack might not fit under the front, so I'll probablly use the wood plank method you guys suggest.
Anyway my first question is, what do you suggest I pad the cup on the jack with? I'm going to use the front and rear jacking points. What would be sufficent to keep the metal from tearing up the undercarriage of my car?
Also, I had heard from a possibly misinformed mechanic that my stock 19's may need some sort of mounting machine to be de/re mounted... Is this true? He said the rims would probably crack in half... I sort of doubt it to be true, otherwise how on earth would someone put a spare tire on in the first place?
I might just go to BJ's and have them do this for me, but eventually I'm going to be changing my own oil anyway, so I may as well figure this stuff out now I guess.
Thanks, sorry if these questions are old, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask.
